Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

I am looking at geting some Draggin type jeans and these are sold in my local GW in the City, but wondered if anyone has any first hand experience with this particular make?

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

I've had draggin jeans before and I now own Hood jeans, and I will say the hood jeans are miles better. But I have no idea what this 'version' is like, though they lack the kevlar levels of draggin and hood jeans, which win over all.

Hood jeans rear -

As you can see they can be fitted with armour, but just go look at there site and you will see... Hood Jeans

I was looking at them as well as they came up when I googled but am a bit worried about the fit as I have rather large legs and straight cut jeans will not pass my thighs!!

I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Cheers

I've got some Red Routes. I like them, they seem well made to me. Go and try some on. I got mine from J and S, haggled them down and get some hip armour thrown in too.

Well at the end of the day it is your choice, always found the people at Hood helpful as they can adjust them for you.

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

i got a pair of hood and a pair of draggin off ebay

the plan was to keep the best and sell the others, so after trying them both on, i kept the hood

i think draggan look better, but the hood seem better quality, and fitted better

with draggen you may need a size bigger

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

Yep, the is more selection with the Draggin jeans, but I found the a little lacking compared to the Hood jeans.

I have Hood jeans, but i needed to get 1 size up on the waist.....or it could be the pies....not sure which

wor lass has issues with her hood's going over the top of her alpinestar boots, although they were 'boot' cut

Just my 2 pennies worth

Grinch 30-07-08 10:55 AM

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

Yep, but those Alpinestars are huge boots, I've never had a problem with my Sidi's.

I have hood jeans, I called them up and asked if they could adjust the waist and length and it was sorted no worries. Very helpful on the phone.

Well they are lined with a rather thick material, its more about the look, ease and feel. So if you go to the pub or something you done feel completely out of place. I do fine them much cooler and less 'sticky' then my leathers though.

But with the padding in of the Hood you still do - "They look like the worst pair of jeans I've ever seen" was the comment I got

Yes I know the padding is removeable (not easily), but I prefer it there to do it's job, and it's why I chose Hood over Draggin.

I just wish it had been pointed out to me before I bought them.

Maybe it's better to be in the pub in leathers & people know you wear them 'cos you're on the bike rather than padded jeans & people just think you look ridiculous :smt102

I don't have the armour in my hoods so I look normal, no ones ever said any thing bad about them to me... Maybe you have odd knees.

Just read the link
Quote:

KevlarŪ is an advanced organic fibre that is five times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis. It is lightweight, extremely comfortable and provides excellent impact resistance.
Surely Kevlar has excellent abrasion resistance - but you require padding to provide impact resistance?
Would you want to be buying from a company that doesn't even understand this?

No armour in my draggin jeans which im not 100% comfy with but they are only for short blats-eg to the pub/petrol/going pillion with matt and are better than wearing normal jeans

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

Don't worry too much about them Paws, myself, Yc and Matt practically live in ours!
YC has done the road test..lol...literally
Matts mate has too, they don't tear or anything!
I'm quite comfy in mine in summer, even went to Bordeaux and back in mine last year, were perfect for the heat,

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

Glad to hear it Dizzyblonde that you went to Bordeaux (and back) in them as I'm off to france on MOnday going to the centre of france, somewhere around Poitiers, a few campsites there and might go to Bordeaux as well! And I was thinking of going in my kevlar jeans - I have the Elite from Giali with hip armour. My leathers are much hotter than my kevlar jeans but then I have the combat version which I suppose are a bit more airy altho the material is v thick.. When standing still at traffic light or riding slowly and sun beating down on my legs they are as hot as my leathers, as soon as I start riding they are cooler. Also can't get on with the tank v well with leather trousers , they stop me from moving where I want/need to be (stuck to the tank). Apparently I'm used to moving my legs a bit (maybe the result of riding a harley for two years).

If hood would have had a similar design I would have maybe gone for them as I have a few friends who like them.

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

Well, I went to GW today at lunchtime and tried on a pair of the RED Route Jeans, seemed well made and fitted OK. I got the ones without the padding as the ones with looked as though they were worn by Dexys Midnight runners, i.e. 80's throwbacks!

Will let you know how I get on when wearing them on the bike.

That is after I have taken them back and changed them for a pair that will fit, looks as though I picked up a different pair than what I originally tried on and with the best will in the world a pair of 34 short will not do!!

Agreed, I bought some chino's from Robinson's and they were/are just a little too snug, baggy everywhere else except the waist. I don't really wear them anymore, too tight to sit down at work all day in.

Sound good and I might get some when I have some cash burning a hole but I'd only wear them for short blasts or under my leathers/textile gear.

dizzyblonde 25-09-08 09:50 PM

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

you won't feel the need to wear em under leathers or textiles i can assure you. Besides, they're too thick to even bother

Grinch 26-09-08 07:39 AM

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

I seem to live in mine now too, going to work in them most days and have turned up at a few Guildford, Soho and Selkent meets in them. Infact I use them more then I do my leathers now.
I need to pull my finger out though and fit some armour to them as I have that 'rubber' stuff Hein Gericke do.

Re: Draggin Jeans (Red-Route)

Another thumbs up for the Hood jeans - my Concept Six set arrived this week - they're a bit snug from the knee down, but that's mainly to do with my boots (A* SMX4), and as someone else mentioned, their customer services is spot on.
