What bike do you ride? I'll keep my eye out for you as I'm only over the bridge, and often in town. As for a ride sometime soon, I'm on nights this week, so I'll be either working or sleeping. However, this weekend (starting Friday) there's the "North Wales 4" rideout. See here for details. There's also a thread about accomodation (don't know if this is fully booked or not) here. The latter thread details the start point (but basically, down the A5 until just after Cerrigydrudion, hang right onto the A4501 (it's not amazingly sign posted but it's OK), then about a mile down the road on the right.) Hopefully I'll be there on Sunday, but any time you fancy a ride, drop me a PM the day before or so. Lastly, welcome to the mad-house!! |
Re: Bangor U
Just moved this into the Border Patrol forum, which covers North Wales. You can chat / meet folks local to you here.
|
Re: Bangor U
Ziv , if you wanna come on the North Wales 4 rideout , I am going on Saturday and you are more than welcome to tag along :D

For the record my names Ric =] |
Re: Bangor U
Easiest thing to do is come down the A55 towards Colwyn Bay and I can meet up with you there . It`s about 25 miles away from Bangor . I`ll find out times and meeting places etc and can escort you over to the meeting point , these rideouts are great fun :D . Will find out more details if yer up for it .
|
Re: Bangor U
Ric, I'll keep an eye out around town. That photo looks like it's taken on one of the back roads just behind Aldi (I think the supermarket is Aldi), could be wrong though.

Unfortunately night shifts will keep me off the bike on Sat morn (unless I get a lot of sleep during the day on Fri). |
Re: Bangor U
That`s true Baph , if he knows his way to Betwys-Y-Coed we could get to cerrigydridion that way .
|
Re: Bangor U
Guys i really dont kno a great deal of places, but i am getting to kno them, im going further a field each day so i am DEFFINATLY up for it, once we arrange a meet place n time i'll just use google earth or summit. These ride outs.. r they over night or could i return to bangor U? i only ask because i am a poor student and have no camping gear with me :(
|
Re: Bangor U
Well I won`t be staying overnight , so you can follow me back , Don`t worry feller , we shall get you there and back without any worry whatsoever :D . There is a bunkhouse that people are staying in but you can get back to Bangor quite easily with the minimum of fuss .

|
Re: Bangor U
You don`t often catch me around that neck of the woods , I tend to roam the wilds this side of Colwyn Bay , but after showing you around some of the better routes around here I am sure I will spot you about . Another thing to consider is that now you live here , get yourself booked on a FREE Bikesafe course , normally £80 but free to residents on Conwy County and Denbighshire County . Well worth it to hone your safety skills making you a smoother rider ;)

Re: Bangor U

Have a look here mate , I reckon we should meet in Betwys and fuel up there say around 8:15 , gives us plenty of time to get there and meet and greet the fellow members :D |

If you head out of Bangor heading towards Llandegai (easiest for me to desribe it if you come around the U bend at the bus stn - one way road - turn right at the end, and follow your nose to the A55. Once there, don't go onto the A55, but go straight ahead at the roundabout, then straight again at the mini roundabout. That will put you on the A5. Follow this for around 20miles, and you'll drop down a long hill, the other side of the road is a dual carriageway, but the way you're going will be single. This is the lead into Betws-y-coed. Follow through the town on the same road, you'll know you're in the right place as you'll pass loads of outdoors shops. Eventually, there's a Shell petrol station on the right side. |
Re: Bangor U
Right guys, this sounds like a great plan, Badger i'll meet u at 815 exactly where baph specified.. ne idea what time i'd need to leave.. assuming im doing the speed limit all the way (probs will tbh cos not used to the bendy roads here) might bring a buddy pillion too who sortve hasa curiusity bout bikes, i assume other riders will b there with pillions neway so yeah!
anyway badger let me kno a time i should set off and i look forward to meeting u and baph :) cant wait boyo :smt026 |

As for setting off time to get to Betws-y-coed, it's approx 25 miles, and mostly NSL areas, with a couple of 30mph limits thrown in, so allow 30-45 mins for getting there. Even if you get there early & have to wait a little, it's better IMO as it'll be your first time riding that way. (If you could average 60mph over the distance, in theory, it'd take 25mins - 1mile/min). |
Re: Bangor U
I`m getting up at 7 , I will leave my house by 7:45 and I will pootle over to B-Y-C and meet up with you there , if you are there early then it`s a bonus , we can get up to the bunkhouse and laugh at the bleary eyed party goers LOL . Half an hour is MORE than enough time for me to get to Betwys . I can PM my mobile number top you in case you have any difficulties along the way such as Losing direction or Beakdowns . Always handy to have other numbers of members on rideouts anyway .
