MP3 Players...
So, after three years faithful service to an abusive master, my trusty 5th gen ipod has one to the big white shop in the sky... and i'm looking for a new player. Fancy something different to the iPod, which i'll probably be taking apart and converting to flash memory to serve as the player for my car stereo.
Must: - Be big capacity, by big i mean 80-100GB+ my 60GB 5th gen didn't have enough space for all my music, let along all the films etc i'd want to load when i go away with it... - Have video playback, and a half decent screen - Sync easily with a PC, any that sync with iTunes would be awesome but i doubt any of them do, drag and drop would be best... That's about it really, price not an issue but value is - please no iPod recommendations this time, been there, done that, fancy a change. What you got? Any good? |
Re: MP3 Players...
Also, which MP3 player is the loudest so it has half a chance of drowning out my exhaust?

Re: MP3 Players...
You just need good earphones.

Re: MP3 Players...
I have that thread running already, just wondered if there was much difference in the players.

Re: MP3 Players...
Wait until next year when the MS Zune is launched in the UK. Meant to be a credible ipod alternative and a 120Gig model has just been released in the states. Could always source one from over the pond if you cant wait :D

Re: MP3 Players...
well, i tried to convert my old ipod to flash to save a bit of cash, but it looks like it wasn't only the HDD that was dead...
so i now have a 120GB Zune syncing on my desk next to me, nuts to apple, now i just need an old ipod mini to convert to flash to use in the car;) |
Re: MP3 Players...
Never used a Zune, being an apple fanboy :p
Just curious, how much of your library do you actually listen to? I've got 40 odd GB on my iTunes, and the stuff I listen to happily goes onto my iPhone. Also, now you're not on itunes, you don't get the excellent genius feature :p |

as for the genius feature, i can still use itunes to create the playlist and then simply export that playlist to the zune software in a few seconds... plus with a comparable ipod, i wouldn't have the better screen for video or wireless sync, and next to the zune the controls on my ipod feel very cheap and plastic so, take your money and make your choice, apple were very good when my first ipod decided to melt and catch fire when connected to the USB port though;) |
Re: MP3 Players...
For me, playlists have become pretty much useless since genius arrived, with the exception of using them to sync music to a ipod.
The screen on my iPhone is good, and so is the one on my girlfriends itouch, though you don't get much storage with either :( |
Re: MP3 Players...
have a sony nwa cos the battery lasts more than 5 mins.....
whats this genius feature you speak of? |
Re: MP3 Players...
It's where you select a song and itunes creates a playlist from that song. I like it because it comes up with different playlists to me, different playlist every time. I think it's a really nice feature, but other people probably think its crap. :p

Re: MP3 Players...
I recently turned to the dark side of apple as work bought me an iPhone, I must admit the genius is just that, works really well for me as I walk out of work, pick a song and 24 similar songs are selected (handy as my music library varies wildly)
It's a good job they have genius though as the shuffle function seems seriously flawed, i'm sure it just plays the same songs in the same order depending on where you start the shuffle from.:smt108 not sure i'd get an ipod though, more storage space would be nice but I do like having my stuff there as a removable storage device. ah well just my opinion being recently converted. |
