I have been raped
For the sum of £14.98 for 8, yes EIGHT fecking blades for my razor.
I have sensitive skin on my face, cheap razors just do not work and are painfull. There are only a few razors that seem to stop this irritation for me.... So Am I discrimintated against because I have soft skin and need an expesive razor blade. Should I be subsidised by the government for this aspect of my shaving routine? Why do my blades cost me so much. Women should be subsidised for "monthly womenly stuff" and blokes for razor blades? Or should I take my waffling to the madmans cupboard? This in on M3 power. Now the adverts say "upgrade to the 5 blade yadder thing". OK, I have one of those razors too. So i checkout the blades for that instead. £15.98, even MORE expensive. No wonder they want us to swap. Re: I have been raped
I hate shaving, I get a rash every time I shave. But I have ginger bits in my beard, so won't grow one.. Now I just shave a day before I see my girlfriend usually, and I use a cheapie one. I can't be bothered with spending money on something I hate.

Re: I have been raped
Just keep with the so called fashionable stubble.....
|
Re: I have been raped
I dont shave. I have constant stubble and just trim it with hair clippers every now and then or when my boss tells me I look like a hobo.
|
Re: I have been raped
Lol same here, except when people say I look like a hobo I stagger off muttering obscenities and go back to my collection of baked bean tins in my luxury abandoned freight car.
|
Re: I have been raped
Actually, come to think of it, I don't shave before I see her, I wait until she tells me.. :salut:
|
Re: I have been raped
I should shave, maria keeps getting either stabbed by my "stubble" or tickled
|
Re: I have been raped
Half price in Boots
Ha Ha |
Re: I have been raped
I'm lazy and cannot be bothered to shave properly so I just use a 'leccy razor.
|
Re: I have been raped
Leccy shave, then shower, then wet shave - takes about 30 seconds and blade lasts months
|
Re: I have been raped
You change razor blades now?
I thought the rust added character. |
Re: I have been raped

Go Electric- pricey at first, but well worth it in the long run.
Yes I sell them. LOL. |
Re: I have been raped
Got electric but i've a face full of stubble every few days.
Stubble gets on my nerves, i need a face wax. |
Re: I have been raped
How much do you think it cost to get Woods, Federer and Henry all in the same room together?
THATS why blades are so expensive my friend. And where will it all end? Will I be using the revolutionary 26 blade system in a few years? And how much does the R and D dept at Gillette get paid to sit round a table and go "I know, we'll stick another blade on and add a tenner to the price. Done. Right, pub anyone?" |
Re: I have been raped
i hate shaving, but i find if i shave ever day that it does not hurt as much
|
Re: I have been raped
I find if I just run the hair clippers over my chin every 3 weeks or so it doesn't hurt at all.
The clippers were 19.99, in 1999. Bargain. |
Re: I have been raped

Re: I have been raped
Have you not heard of Ebay .... ;)
I also suffer - I find I can only use the old gillette twin bladed sensor with shaving oil - I buy loads at a time - still using ones I bought about 4 years ago ! Like these - ok, so they are the womens ones, but exactly the same as the mens only white plastic instead of grey http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/100-X-GILLETTE...d=p3286.c0.m14 nana |
Re: I have been raped
i was also told 'by a beautician yearssssss ago' never to use aftershave directly after shaving. and if you do try to use a spray type....
|
Re: I have been raped
Shaving routine should be as follows (I worked for a company that specialised in mens grooming while at school):
*metrosexual mode on* Wash face in warm water - It opens the pores, then apply shaving foam or combination of shaving foam and shaving oil. Also, if applied using a brush, it helps to stimulate the nerve endings on the skin. Shave as normal and always shave with the grain as going against the grain causes ingrown hairs and can be very painful. Use a sharp blade so replace regularly. Rinse face with warm water to clear any reamining foam/oil. Then, and this is crucial, rinse you face with cold water. This closes the pores and reduces sensitivity. Dry with a clean towel and do not apply after shave directly to the skin. If you do have sensitive skin then use either an unfragranced moisturiser and once dried, then apply the after shave or use an aftershave balm...most good fragrance houses will make an aftershave balm. Anyway, HTH. *metrosexual mode off* |

Re: I have been raped
Get a Merkur de razor and some decent shave cream or soap (try Geo F. Trumper or Evelyn & Crabtree). It takes a bit of getting use to but it's much better than the 110 blade latest vibrating Gillette thing.
Also, new blades cost about 3p each, so you save money in the long run. :D Dan |
Re: I have been raped
Just noticed, you're complaining about paying out for razor blades when you're wanting to get a Tornado?!?!?!?! LOL!

Re: I have been raped
every little helps!

Re: I have been raped
years with a beard and trimmed it as and when required.
I now shave as and when told to. I hate doing it. Ironic but understandable that replacement blades are reputed to be the most nicked item in British supermarkets. I know my local asda puts them in boxes designed to set off the door alarms |

Re: I have been raped
Don't worry about people telling you you have sensitive skin, I was told this for years and tried every gel / cream/ balm and nothing stopped the sore rash after shaving.
One day in work i was serving a dermatologist and explained the problem to her, she looked at my neck and said the opposite was true, i had very strong flexible skin which trapped the hairs underneath and caused irritation. She recommended a product for razor burn in woman's bikini areas by a company called Skin Doctors which i had to order online from Amazon. When it arrived i was worried that it was Salicylic Acid and smelt like nail polish remover. You shave as normal and afterward you put some on a cotton pad and apply to the sensitive area (my neck around the collar) it hurts like hell, really stingy but it only lasts a few seconds. Turns out it burns off the top layer of skin encouraging fresh growth and stopping the hairs getting trapped underneath. After a few days the rash was completely healed and i now use it every 2 or 3 days to maintain it. Still on the first bottle after 6months so dont panic at the price but i was willing to try anything at the time. worked for me!!! |

Re: I have been raped
I'm deffo going to invest in a Merkur razor as soon as I have some spare cash. Blades cost next to nothing, and a better shave to boot. With The Mach VIII etc. you are paying for their (huge) marketing budget.
