Re: Exhausts & Common faults

Choke plungers, siezed brakes, out of balance carbs, fuel tank drain tube, calipers siezing, chassis bearings going, wiring rubbing on subframe, regulator rectifier, water in fuel, carb ice.

Re: Exhausts & Common faults

Nah it's all easy stuff, and find me a 2001 bike that's immune to all that stuff.

Choke plungers isn't unique to SV, seized calipers are common, carbs need balancing on any motor, chassis bearings are crap on any jap bike because grease isn't fitted as standard... etc etc

they rust like you wouldn't believe too, keep an eye on corroded forks, front and rear subframes rusting...the knock on the front end is normal, and your bike is a curvy which is best of all. Don't wprry about a loud can, everyone will tell you to keep it anyway...oh and yellow or black are the better of the colours for 'our' SV type....hello new person, enjoy your bike, they're brilliant :-)

Corroded forks and rusty subframes make sod all difference to how it rides btw :-P

Re: Exhausts & Common faults

If you're fussed about corrosion then use ACF50, when you want to sell it just wash it off.

Re: Exhausts & Common faults

they do a bit, if you flip it over..are there two rubber feet there, if not go to your dealer and buy a couple. If they are, may I suggest a roll of window insulation tape(the foam strip stuff with a sticky side). One of mine came with it stuck to the underside runnin round the edge. Stops it rattling a little bit, and the rain running down into the sandwich box compartment, from the grabrail end

The yellow one had the feet missing and it rattled an awful lot without them, i pinched em off one of my rear seats
