.......back on a 650 ;-)

Evening fnuckers!

No news at all except back on a 650.

But not that kind, or that kind...

Sold old faithful after not riding it for 12 months at all :smt108 after my dismall failure in the easy as **** Cambrian rally

http://richhelyer.smugmug.com/photos...77_38AbX-M.jpg

Missing it a bit though.

Anyway, the new hotness was getting all the action

http://richhelyer.smugmug.com/photos...93_vGo3R-M.jpg

But then I spotted this when I took the GS in for a repair, and swapped the GS for it and some cash

http://richhelyer.smugmug.com/photos...65_FAWbj-M.jpg

So slow, so simple no gadgets etc but a true dual-sport, bomb-proof 650 Rotax, really nicely built after the cobbly 12GS. Rides like a motard on the road, haven't trailed it yet but mate has one and it is a superb on-off road machine. Keep it for a bit and see what materialises in a year or so as a bit of overlap bikewise now. Glad to shift the 12GS, no market for a trail ridden one, too many only get polished.

Kind of having 'nothing with a huge cc in the garage to compensate for the size of my penis' problems to get over, but I have no intention of buying a pair of Goldwings  :p

So if you see one of them around Brisl' pretty much bound to be me as dont see many.

See ya (etc)!

:smt039

welcome back:kiss:

that bmw looks a bit errrrr weird?

you still got the beta then

the white rabbit 23-10-08 08:02 PM

Re: .......back on a 650 ;-)

Its unusual ;) :smt044

Yes, the Beta is a great bike, loads of fun. The KTM 400 engine in it is great, not too much power for the trails. Way more than I will ever need. Really really enjoy it, spends a lot of time lying down though

The BMW is about 35kg heavier, but has a 50 mile greater range, normal service intervals (ie. not every other weekend), a higher air intake and a decent subframe so will carry some gear. I was hoping the KTM 690 Adventure may appear but no sign so this will do until then, if ever.

What I really want is a KTM 950 Super Enduro, but I cant actually touch the ground at all :smt044. Too much of a beast anyhow for me, wouldnt handle it off the road.

Never been on a trials bike but have no balance skills anyhow :smt044. Have you not outgrown it, Hovis?

The Mofos don't tend to go to the Welly much these days as it resembles a building site. Me, Alex and Vix went to the Windmill a few weeks ago, which was nice. As the winter is on its way we've sort of said we'll play it by ear a bit and decide whats happening on a week by week basis.

Warum sprechen Sie mit mir auf Deutsch? Merkwürdig bin ich dort morgen. Sowieso sehr gut genießen selbst und meine Frau den Schnitzel regelmäßig.

UPDATE!

Well that didnt last long. I reckon the Beta was still the weapon of choice for the lanes (not that I actually have done any laning since I got this X-Challenge thing) and to be honest the 650 failed to compensate for the size of my penis.

So perhaps this thread should be called .......back on a TWIN ;-)

We shall see how long this lasts

So when do we see it at the Roo?

the white rabbit 22-05-09 11:00 AM

Re: .......back on a 650 ;-)

Maybe next time we go to the Roo and it's not raining.

Totally different to a GS. Crude, unrefined, like riding a trail bike. I got mine for good money but at new prices it would be a GS everyday for serious riding. This is more fun though, I think in the limited riding I have done so far.

Its a good point, there's only some much of one's life should be completely wasted (apart from of course spending one's life wasted, and entirely different matter).

Anyway, have you let the real Beenz out?

Beenz 25-05-09 07:23 AM

Re: .......back on a 650 ;-)

I've not seen the portly version for a while, only the new low calorie slimline one.

So what about the Welly or some other venue?

Re: .......back on a 650 ;-)

Good plan. This week is a push but maybe a week weds or thurs?

Re: .......back on a 650 ;-)

Well, make up your minds.... one has to plan in advance if I want to take the bike over the bridge... passports out of date etc...
