Odd things ya pets do ...
I do not have a door bell and Samson has never been able to associate the ringing of a doorbell to visitors, but how does my dog know everytime he hears one on the TV to look out the window and go to the door?

Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
I have a cat called Candy.
Couple times a week she has a mad 5 min dash around the house, this could be 10am, 3pm or midnight, she just goes crazy like she has been on crack. :) |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
my old cat liked to play fetch with rubber gloves.
Honey dog goes to the phone when it rings Kaspar still thinks hes a kitten and sucks clothes and hes nine. And Bob....well he likes chasing his own tail forever |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
one of my dogs is addicted to socks!!!! eats them whole and manages to pass them too:pukel: quite the thief too, we try to keep them out of his way but every now and then he finds one. i'm sure one day his antics will end up in an expensive trip to the vets.

Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
my brothers rottweiler (one of my dog's sons) use to literally not have a clue,
he was obsessed with chasing aeroplanes, aeroplane shadows (weird sight that was), birds, flys etc would normally result in ruining into things constantly due to looking up and not were he was going. because of his mad behaviour he ended up damaging his joints and had to be put down, poor thing didn't know any different. RIP boy |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
My cat refuses to go down the stairs on his own when its dark. Hes fine in the daytime but not at night..!
He also knows when I'll be home from work because he'l be sitting on the step waiting when I pull up in the car |

Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
My old cat used to wait at the bus stop for me every night after work (a quarter of a mile from home) and then walk home with me.
And once, I got a pint in at my local, turned around and he was sat there watching me. Little bugger had followed me in. |

Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
I once had a pet Tarantula, watching her hunt and then feed was fairly strange. For something with that many legs and such a small brain to control them, she could move frighteningly quickly. I was holding her one day and she bit me. It was not her fault though, My mother blew on her to see if she would move.
I think my cat Jasper is a drug addict, he is addicted to Kitty Crack, also known as Cat treats and he will even raise his paw to say please for one. It took me two days to train him to do that. However he will not walk past the dining table, but must instead jump up and walk across it. We have tried to train him not to.but even zapping him with a water pistol will not stop him. He is a very single minded animal and I love him so much. |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
My dog goes mad when anyone puts something through the letter box to the point of throwing himself at the door. Have recently fitted a post box outside and screwed the letter box closed. If some one comes to the door and knocks or rings the bell he barks but that's it  oh and he's scared of just about everything including plastic bags being rustled and hides if you get some bubble wrap out

Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
Bob is scared of kites, black bin liners and parasols on outdoor tables. His hair stands on end and he barks at them...he doesn't like hot air balloons either, he does it to them too

Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
Sam is licking his b@lls right now, well I would have thought he'd have missed them by now :-dd

She even knows what postmen are from a distance she can distinguish the uniform and bag...and she barks at them too through the window, and they can be far off down the street |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
Our black and white cat, Zuki, loves blueberry muffins and digestives dunked in tea. She growls if she hears noises outside, just like a dog would.:D
She also jumps onto the wall at the side of the door and rattles the letterbox when she wants to come in! |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
cassie (my cat) has to lay like a baby in your arms, and ninja (kitten) will only sit/lay on treacle
|

Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
Leo (dog) used to chew furniture when he was a puppy. We used to tell him off for doing it (he's stopped now) but he'd still do it when you were in the room.
If he saw you look at him while chewing, he'd suddenly start licking it instead, then go back to chewing when he thought you weren't looking. Sneaky git. |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
one of my cats getting caught short once or twice, has a nasty habit of using the bathplug hole to widdle down...eugh!

My dog gets up and goes to his bed in the conservatory as soon as he hears the coronation street theme toon at the end of the show as that's the time me ma usually goes up to bed. He sometimes gets caught out in the adverts though :D He also hates the hairdryer - gives me strange looks while I'm using it and raises his lip and snarls if it goes near him, and the vac which he jumps on  |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
Every time the doorbell rang my dog would jump up at the window and bark furiously.
One day I was painting the front door and the dog was lying on the front lawn sunning himself. I accidently hit the doorbell with the brush and he jumped up..raced past me into the house.... and jumped up at the front window to start barking  |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
My friends cat plays fetch with earplugs. He's got in down to a fine art where as he is bringing it back he'll flick his head and let go and the earplug will land on your lap.

Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
One of my dogs lies on the couch and when she's got too hot she pushes herself towards the edge of the sofa using her back legs and 'pours' herself onto the floor, which on it's own is still quite a sight but she's a 5 month old lab / rott cross, and her head make a GREAT sound when it lands on the hard wood floor.. ha haa.
She never learns though |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
Lol mine does that too, he's an old, daft lab.
He also sometimes sneezes, and with the energy of the sneeze, knocks his head against the floor. The quite amusing thing is he then looks down at the floor as if to say "why would you do that to me?" |

My tortoise Squirt will go in a mood if i go away and somebody else has to feed her. Once i come back and i start feeding her again she will not touch her food for 2-3 days. I think to teach me a lesson.
The mental one of the two lizards will walk with you (in her tank) as you walk past it until she hits the side. And the other lizards will sleep up the glass doors of the tank. |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
I used to own 3 fish and a cat. The cat would spend all day lying on top of the tank trying to catch them. Then she would get bored and fall asleep. The fish then used to jump out of the water and splash the cat which scared the living crap outta her and caused her to fall from the tank 4 foot to the ground.
This would happen in 2 hour cycles all day. |

Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
My old dog, Kodo, would growl and bark at anything in the sky without wings (as it obviously shouldn't be able to fly and had no right being in the sky) - generally this meant hot air balloons - as Northampton has a Balloon Festival every August it would be one weekend of angry barking in my house. He'd steadfastly stay there growling at them until he'd successfully scared them off... the speed a hot air balloon travels, this could take a while.
However, it did also extend to the Moon - but only on those strange times in summer when you can see the moon in the sky during the day - hey, it was in the wrong place at the wrong time so he'd try to scare it back into the night... this too would take some time. |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
If you flick the pages on a magazine the dog doesn't like it and barks at the magazine.
Also whenever he gets an itch on his back legs, he tries to itch it by biting it but he can't reach it, so he ends up shuffling round the room going in circles. And it's the daftest looking dog ever [Edit] Also... when we're in the front garden or something waching the bikes, the dog comes out... For the times when it's too sunny and hot it has dug a little burrow under one of the bushes, and lies there. First time it did it we had no idea where it had gone. Doesn't like anyone hitting one of the family or somebody it recognises, and doesn't like birds. |
Re: Odd things ya pets do ...
daft things I do:
the dog will be sat looking miserable as usual, when suddenly she sits up and looks at me - and then winks. I didn't know what to do the first time, so I winked back. What a tit I am |
