I see a lot of bikes in the morning that are just using thier bike key in the ignition with no other keys attached. I have House, pushbke and key to my mums on theres as well, that way i know where they are.

What about you and why?

Ignition key only - don't wreck (scratch) the top yoke etc. Other keys are firmly kept in the pocket.

Just the bike key.

A) If theres to much weight you can knacker the ignition barrel.

B) I hate the jingling noise of key

C) Dont want to damage the top yoke

Ignition Key only, I dont want to scratch my top yoke.

House keys etc then I attatch to a lanyard, which I also put my alarm key fob on so I doesnt get wet.

Just the ignition key with the alarm fob attached...don't want to damage the barrel or top yoke.

I got a nice soft leather key pouch from China off eBay, where you fold out the key you want and the rest are protected inside. Bit like what you used to see in the 70's but classier lol It tucks down behind the cables while on the bike to prevent scratches.

I have just the one, then that way I have half a chance of finding a key to something else if i lose them!

I've got the key to the bike, key to the chain (small one I carry with the bike) and immobiliser fob on mine. House keys always go either in a particular pocket, or a particular place in the house.

Only the bike key on a little plastic loop fob.

I did have my alarm fob on there too, but one day it dropped between the yoke and the tank. Nearly dropped the bike on a slow corner cause I couldn't turn the bars, I'm left with a little dent just to remind me.

on one set I have ignition key, disck lock key and alarm fob....the alarm fob has a piece of velcro stuck to it, the other half of the velcro(the scratchy bit) is glued to the top yoke, so I don't lose the fob, as its the only one.
On the other set there is the ignition key, the disc lock key and a heavy SV650 key ring, which will have to come off soon as I don't want to have the new shiny custom yoke damaging

Funnily enough with the alarm fob stuck on to the yoke, the key for the disc lock dosn't bang about either

Got bike key, car key, house key, moms house key......oh and also the wifey's chastity belt key ....well, you can't be too careful :)

If I just had the bike key, I know I'd just lose it.

Just the ingnition key on it's own for the same reasons even though I have a prtector on the top yoke. End of the day what's one of the things the stands out alot when you go to buy a bike, that scratched top yoke would suggest someone didn't really care about the bike (not saying that you guy's don't). So why not keep it scratch free?

Just the bike key and the suppling dealers key fob - all other keys on another bunch in my pocket.

I lost the house key last night... but it means I didn't loose the bike key.

I used to keep my alarm fob on the ignition key ring.

Then I went on a very long, very wet ride around wales. My alarm keyfob got soaking wet and then it stopped working. Luckily I'd put the alarm into service mode before the keyfob packed up due to the water ingress so I was able to ride home.

Hence now why I keep the alarm fob on my lanyard inside my jacket so the fob doesnt get wet.

Yet more proof that alarms are more hassle than they are worth :( Shame that for high risk areas/bikes/people they are compulsory.

Really hope my next bike doesnt have to have one - the ignition immobiliser on the Zed is nice and easy to operate - just put the key in the ignition :D

Just the key and alarm fob,
house keys and gate key are seperate as i dont always need bike keys and house key etc scratches tank/yoke

He did eventually. It dryed out and it started working again. I'm glad my alarm is an immobiliser first. TBH I very rarely activate the alarm bit...only when I'm at work I do

Just bike key.

Although... is it just me, or do you get your bike key out, then get geared up with all the waterproof over suits and whatnot, then realise your house key is under about three layers of clothing and have to start all over again?

Bike key, Padlock Key, Disc Lock Key and Other Random Padlock key.

Personally I hate my ignition barrel. The perfect finish on my top yoke made me ill and the noise they make when going over rough ground is sweet music :)

For me, its ignition key, petrol tank key (had the ignition barrel swapped a while back cause the garage blamed it on my being unable to start the bike, I knew no better), disc lock key, big chain key, little chain key, little rubber fob thing from oxford - useful for chewing on when unlocking the shed.

All other keys (house, shed, car, etc) are on a completely separate set of keyrings, which generally sit in my jacket pocket, or the tankbag).

The gentle marks on the yoke add a little bit of class, along with all the muck thats protecting the metalwork underneath... ;)

Ignition key only, and a rubber SV key ring.

Then I have gate key, shed key, all other keys on another ring in my pocket. I chopped a footpeg in half and drilled a hole and that's the key ring :p

Like Fizz - house key & alarm fob went on a lanyard - just ignition key on the bike, though it did have a clip so I could attach it to the aforementioned lanyard when needed as well as a rough looking old leather keyfob...

... which has been used on every bike I've ever owned.:oops:

my house keys are like a jailers.
I never carry car or bike keys with house keys for a couple of reasons, if i lose one set, i dont want to change keys for everything. Also i knew someone who got charged with drink driving for carrying his car keys whilst drunk (didnt even go to the car).

I have my bike key on my normal keys but on a removable ring so I can unhook it and only use the one key whilst on the bike. Stops the top yoke getting scratched and I don't like keys flailing about when I'm riding.

although I do worry- the amount of keys I have on my lanyard if came off (again) and was less lucky could my keys actually become a danger to my chest area and cut in to me..

Blimey, i really am the only one. I tried to seperate my keys once and locked myself out soo many times (As i forgot my keys) i put them back on the bike keys. I also have a full set of keys on my car keys as well.

If you have seen the rest of my bike, you will know im not that bothered about the yoke (Although its has a protector on it from new) and the wear round the barrel can be touched up with a bit of silver smoothrite :)

I have ignition, disc lock and padlock keys and the immobiliser fob. I'd been thinking about just having the ignition key on the bike and the rest in my pocket but then theres all the fannying about digging for the disc lock key and the alarm if I stop off somewhere...

The velcro idea by dizzyblonde is ace though! I'll look for some at the weekend and see what can be done...
