how do I get rid of someones car

Some git has parked 2 days ago a R reg Jeep Cherokee and a 525 outside my and my neighbours houses. No body has been near them since.

They have been crafty and left our drives clear, but we cannot park our cars outside.

The police sympathise but say they cannot do anything.

Short of bouncing them into the road so they cause an obstruction and plod will then be forced to get them shifted how do I get rid.

We have already triggered the alarms, no owners appeared

This has happened once before. when somebody left their car whilst they went on holiday. fortunately it had no tax and was soon crushed

Take the wheels off, put it on bricks. I'm sure the police would want a gander then.

Oh, wear gloves whilst you do the above. :)

So, somebody is parked on the public highway and you want them to move it.
Is it taxed.
Unless it is in someway illegal, I think they have every right to park where they want.
OK, so it may be stopping you from parking outside your house but so what.

I have to admit that is my line of thinking. What right have you to dictate who parks down your road and for how long? Unless you needed a residence permit I fail to see your point.

I don't have any right to dictate who parks outside my house. But no-one does (other than me).

There's school markings painted right infront of the house. Local police will book anyone found parking there, with the exception of us. It's handy being friendly with the local plod.

NB, no, I'm not obscuring view of kids crossing the road, it's physically impossible for them to cross where the markings are, due to the great big fence!

I would take offence to people using the street I live on as a Car Park regardless of whether it was legal or not.
Its probably those foreigners who trade cars as 'private' people just storing them.

How and why? If it's on the public road, legally, you don't - simple as that.

Re: how do I get rid of someones car

yeah ok i cant do anything about it legally. but myself and my neighbours all pay higher council tax for where we live. we all have drives and on the whole use them to keep the place tidy. cars parked on the road just look untidy, and spoil our view.
but on a personal note, our road is a 40 dgree hill and theres only one person in the winter months, sometimes 5.00am, gritting and shovelling it clear and thats me. the highways agency owe me big time. that patch of tarmac belongeth to me.

if it has tax........ you have no right to move it

Tim, IMO, ignore those that say you haven't got a right to do it.

Setup a webcam to do motion activated recording, point it at where the car was, then upload the resulting video.

I'd find it funny, if no-one else would. :)

Re: how do I get rid of someones car

tbh cant see why your moaning tim-you have a drive...its been kept clear...soo park your cars on your drive??
I have to put up with people blocking the alley way entrance where i keep my bike, ive put 2 big notices on the gate but now and the neighbours friends etc will park across it-no big deal, i can go and ask them to move or just have to not go out on the bike-cant complain as its a public road and no drop kerb.

Re: how do I get rid of someones car

put a car jack under the car at the back in the middle then push it off the jack onto the pavement then the front do this a couple of times till it is completely opstructing the footpath then phone the concil and the police they will then have to remove it quicker as its a public hazard just an idea

report it stolen and then a day later say you found it. the police will recover it .

+1

I live near some playing fields and at the weekend my road is totally full, yeah its a pain, but thats why i bought a house with a drive, and as you said, you have a drive.

Also, if they return to find someones messed with their car, they might decide to mess with your house, they can move the car, but you cant move your house.

Re: how do I get rid of someones car

They are not blocking your drive - what's the problem. Unless it's your private road.

clip the hand brake cables and hope its not in gear, push it into the road.

I would go with the bird food idea, video the reaction of the folks who come back to a guano covered car and then pop it on YouTube!

Be careful though, it could be MI6 staking out your house!

Just be thankful he didn't park across your drive whilst it was empty. That is also legal.
Then you would be pi55ed off.....lol

Re: how do I get rid of someones car

I'm glad I don't live near a lot of you! I think it's out of order advising how to (mostly) damage someone's motor for being parked on a public road for 2 days. I had to do it recently for a few days and would have been livid had someone damaged it on purpose.

Take a chill pill and get a drop kerb when they've gone.

mefinks you may find that if you clear the ice on a public road/path and someone subsequetly has an accident you could be personally liable.. such a litigious society I would leave that alone.

same for the car prob Tim I afraid IMO.. espesh now you have highlighted the situation to the bobbies.. the cops must have checked it out etc re tax.insurance and cross referenced to where the owner lives...its just one of those things isnt it- if thye werent legal the fuzz wudda took them away I sure some of our blue friends may confirm or deny this..

it is bloody annoying !!.... when I had one of my pubs the neighbouring shop owner used to park his car on my public outside drinking area.. it ATE UPMY LIFE FOR MONTHS.. let it goooooo.. it will make you ill..

incidentally one of my regulars chucked a whole pint of guiness all over it to prove a point.. and me as he licensee got called in to the cop shop and had a severe reprimand from the big man ..

dont damage it as tempting as it is.. i would put a laminated note on it if it would vent your spleen..
