Could I have the shirt please...

Ouch I said as the DHL lorry hit me, more later, work to do first.

It was HERE.

Aw crap Grinch, you're not having much luck at the moment. I've never liked that junction, stupid car drivers (and lorry drivers) never seem to know which lane to be in.

Hope you're OK and that the bikes not too bad.

Grinch 17-12-08 09:00 AM

Re: Could I have the shirt please...

Right, lets go over what happened then.

I filtered past a DHL lorry on my left coming out of nine elms lane and the lights changed, meaning the Royal mail lorry I was going to move past moved off. As I got next to him he started to move over, seeming to want to change lanes. I slowed and its at this point the DHL lorry clipped me and knocked me onto the right side. Not sure what got hit or where, but I felt it push me over.

Damage is - Antlers and tinsle is broken, have had to be removed.

Oh and the right mushroom is bent and scrapped, hand guard cracked, mirror broken, subframe for mirror mount bent. Screen and right side fairing cracked and bent, scrape on the can.

Note - Nine elms lane is where I got splatted by my bike.

You come up past Stockwell, right?

Why not continue up the A3 straight to Elephant and Castle, by-passing Vauxhall completely.

That takes you to London Bridge (as long as it hasn't fallen down that is)

If you want one of the bridges to the west of London Bridge, just head up towards Waterloo on the A23, past the Imperial War museum.

I might have to change the route that way... it just I only do it once a week, so once it was learnt I didn't have to think any more.

Have to say that after nearly 32 yrs of trucking experience, Royal mail and DHL are possibly the worst two outfits on the road, royal mail seem to be law unto themselves and DHL have got too big too quick and dont seem to have reliable drivers, mind you I work for wincantons so I cant talk  GWS.

SEEMING to want to change lanes? You're making assumptions for HGV's... instead of holding back IN YOUR LANE and waiting for them to maneouver.

Coz, and I'll bet Christmas on this, you were in it's blind spot, beneath the mirrors.

Woo. More expense. Just coz you still ride like you did before we had PJ. Which was fine back then, as we didn't have a 3yr old I'd have to explain to if his Daddy gets mangled and ripped apart by an HGV. You filter at speed, and your observation is lacking. You seem to think that every other road user should be on the lookout FOR YOU. Don't deny it, I've seen it first-hand. I WAS gonna wait and talk to you about this when you got home, but as you seem to have posted it all over the effing internet for everybody to see, I guess I'll have my say here.

You need to have a bit of patience Dan. We have a 3yr old who adores his Daddy and who would be totally devastated if anything was to happen to him.

No hun the traffic was stationairy as it was at the lights, I was filtering up when the lights changed and the postoffice lorry moved off to. I wasn't moving very fast as I was filtering.

Thinking he was going to carve me up, what should I do just barg through

Coz, and I'll bet Christmas on this, you were in it's blind spot, beneath the mirrors.

Well I had to slow to as I was worried about the post office van. Due to the width the lorries take when they turn I think the trailer knocked me. I was just about to move over, as I had forgotten about the lorry behind me as my mind was on the post office in front.

Hun how many times have I said to you that looked dangerous to me, and you just said it was fine from where you where.

I so ride slower and more careful now, in fact when I've been out with you hun your normally the one that disappears off.

But that's enough of that now, as I just posted here to let people know and yap about it. Hopefully in fact learn from it.

you were filtering up between heavy goods vehicles, and as their attention was concentrated on moving away from the lights, aaaaand you were in a vulnerable position, you should not have done it.

he was not carving you up. You were filtering, therefore not in a designated traffic flow lane you numpty.
