Oulton park 6th february Novice

I'm booked into this one:

http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/tr...ProductID=4562

I've never done a track day before and I'll be doing it on my everyday k3 pointy with half worn avon storms and a scorpion street extreme.

It seems I dont have to mix it with the fast (not slow boys):

'You will not be on circuit with experienced riders so please don’t feel intimidated if this is your first trackday.'

Any tips, ridiculing, offers of company would be appreciated :)

(*Thread started Binky ;)*)

Is this not a sessioned day? I know MSV sometimes do open pitlane days.

It does not say people are split into groups or how the day will work other than Circuit opens at 9am then the closing time etc.

I could be tempted if its an open pitlane day.

Re: Oulton park 6th february Novice

Ooh.
Theres me thinking I'd included everything :)
I have no idea about these things you mention.
There are booking slots for inter and fast so I'm assuming they must split the day up so as to keep ppl apart, no idea hows thats done just nice to be going :)

Reading this I think that it is a novice only day.
"The novice session on our trackdays is designed exclusively for those of you who have little or no trackday experience. You will not be on circuit with experienced riders so please don’t feel intimidated if this is your first trackday.

It is a common misconception that you need a high performance bike to take part. However the reality is quite the opposite – anyone can enjoy the thrill and excitement of a trackday and riding on a racetrack!

On all of our events, we will provide turning in and apex cones as an on circuit guide to help you master the correct lines effectively. We also allocate an exclusive question and answer session for all novice riders before you hit the track! A few limited speed laps behind a pace bike to familiarise yourself with the circuit and warm up your tyres and you’re ready to go!

If you need some further encouragement on the day then don’t worry - our instructors are on hand at all events ready to offer you advice in the pit lane and one to one tuition on circuit.

Oulton Park's diverse range of corners and straights is an ideal venue for any trackday novice.

Remember you don’t need a super-bike to take part and after a day on the track, I guarantee you will be back for more!

We look forward to seeing you here"

+1

I'd do it but worried about what the weather could be like

As long as it ain't pi$$ing down, it should be good!

Re: Oulton park 6th february Novice

Yeah, oulton park is only about 40-50mins away, but weather is a real dependant factor.

I'll see what finances are like at the end of Jan unless its likely to book up at soon?

Nice one Skeetly. I'll have a read through the website. I'm in the process of seeing if i can legitimately get on this one on a restricted license.

If yes some of the big boys need to watch out, there could be a humble SV being hustled round the corners... :D

skeetly 27-12-08 01:12 AM

Re: Oulton park 6th february Novice

Excellent!
That would make up for my hustley sv being humbled around the corners then ;)

I think I'm in on this one... money and time off work dependant, of course.

Can't say it's a bad thing. I must admit that I am looking at it as well. My technique is cr@p & could do with someone showing me my weak spots (I already know what they are but could do with having somebody kick my ars to do it right)

phil24_7 27-12-08 09:25 AM

Re: Oulton park 6th february Novice

My techniques not bad, it's my balls that let me down! :-D

Re: Oulton park 6th february Novice

There's getting to be a fair bit of interest in this one. I will be really miffed if they say NO, you're not coming on.

I might not be able to get on this one either, i'll have to wait and see in the new year.

But if not i will try and make another track day in February or March. Maybe we can get a few orgers and another date instead or aswell if some can't make the Oulton date...?

Mmmm other half wants to do this badly, I am umming and arrhing as I think it will be too cold !! Dunno may let him to it alone and wait til the nicer weather.

£60 is cheap but I don't mind paying full wack when its warmer :) LOL

Look at it like this - you aren't going to be the only one freezing your bits off, as my leathers aren't compatible with my winter gloves (and textiles aren't allowed). Might have to take advantage of Maplin's winter sale and get a heated waistcoat to go underneath it all.

Can you not put texiles OVER your leathers or is that still not approved?

You can wear almost whatever you want i think as long as zip together or one piece leathers are involved somewhere.

I'm normally woking outside most of the time anyways and it could just as easily be peeing down in July as in February really.
