Pirelli Diablo's
I just phoned my local bike shop to book the SV in for tires and they recommended Pirelli Diablo's as a medium sport tire as i don't do a lot of mileage.
Anyone got experience of these? (£180 fitted on the bike) |
Re: Pirelli Diablo's
I have the diablo rosso on my bike, warm up quicker that the Corsa I had and so far give good milage

Re: Pirelli Diablo's
What are the differences with the Diablo vs the Diablo Rosso?
|
Re: Pirelli Diablo's
Pirelli use the word Diablo too much,
the stable contains Diablo Corsa III Diable Supercorsa Diablo Rosso Diablo I think I have listed them in stickyness down order. and Diablo Rosso |
Re: Pirelli Diablo's
So the Diablo is the budget one? I might have to upgrade to the Rosso, you're not wrong about the over use of the word Diablo!! The Pirelli website doesn't clear things up either!

Re: Pirelli Diablo's
Diablo is the old stock sport tyre I believe (as in road sport, not track sport).

Standard Diablos are great tyres but old tech now. The Rosso was its replacement but leans more the sports riding with the tread not going to the edges whereas the standard Diablo's did which is better for rain but not for dry. In terms of performace the from touring tyres to track the order goes Diablo Strada (Old Diablo) Diablo Rosso (Old Diablo Corsa) Diablo Corsa III (Dragon SuperCorsa Pro) Diablo Supercorsa Diablo Superbike I've has a few sets of Corsa III which are nice tyres that have soft compound on edges and harder down the middle. But they were quite expensive. Unless you are track daying (Corsa III will last 2 max in my experience, go Supercorsa either) I'd stick with cheaper Diablo or the Rosso depending on cost |
Re: Pirelli Diablo's
I think i've narrowed it down to Avon storms (£180 fitted) or Diablo Rosso's (£225) fitted. I want the best i can get but are the Rosso's £45 better than the storms???

after deciphering the blurb on the Pirelli website it looks like the Rosso is a Sport tyre, this means it'll be soft, it'll heat quickly and give good grip when it is hot, but it wont last very long and its winter road / wet grip might be compromised. Whereas the Storms are a Sport Touring tyre, which means that on a hot day or track they wont give as much grip as the Rosso, but on a cold winters day, or a p*ssing with rain day, they'll give more grip, and they'll probably last twice as long. The Z6's are the Diablo Strada equivalent... So IMHO you'd be better off with the storms, especially if you commute or are an all weather rider, add to that, that they are £45 cheaper, and they'll last longer, then thats what I'd plump for. Put it this way I had Diablo Corsa III ( Sporty ) on my GSXR, I replaced them with Metzler Z6's ( Sport Touring ) and I cant tell the difference between the two, in fact I prefer how the bike feels on the Z6's... Pure Sports tyres are always the best... depends on what you want to do with them. You're other problem is that tyres are subjective, I dont like Bridgestone BT014's but there are people out there that love em, so what I like you might not. Only way you're going to find out is to buy a set and try them, TBH you cant buy a bad modern motorcycle tyre these days, so whatever you get you'll be OK with. |
