Best place for an Impact Screwdriver?

Usual story with the rear caliper pad retaining pin / cover. Tried penetrating spray oil, some freezing spray, and a poor attempt at heat using a camping gas burner.

So where is the best place for a manual impact driver. Halfords haven't got any, homebase doesn't stock them, screfix doesn't seem to have them.

Will pop to B&Q tomorrow, but where else??

(I did learn how to bleed brakes today - after removing the caliper, getting the piston stuck and needing to pump it back out)

Ahhh and anyone with a brand new bike - get the pad retaining pin out ASAP and copperslip it like a mo-fo.

Will probably save some stress at a later date!

I'm amazed that these things are so hard to find!

Machine mart is closed today, and they don't have them at Wickes or B&Q!

Screwfix?

Another way to get them out is with a nail punch, just replace the pin if it ends up knackered.

I got my from the Halfords Professional (try the big stores) range, so if it breaks I just take it straight back and they swap it no questions. I've had it for about 10 years with no problems.

Good suggestion, but i cleaned mine of copper slip years ago and clenaed the hole that the pin slides into and filed (ever so slighly) the pin end that goes into said hole. To date(3 years or more) i have never had an issue.

Well got my impact driver tonight. Got the cap and bolt out straight away.

Note to any 1st time impact driver users: It only moves about 1/8th turn... so hitting it repeatedly won't get the screw out ;) after 15 minutes of it "not budging" i got a small screwdriver and it came straight out - doh!
