Front Caliper Bracket Needed!!

Hi, im desperately looking for a front caliper bracket for my 2000 model sv650, the one i have at the moment is slightly bent and i need to pass my m.o.t. Been hunting ebay and can only seem to find rear brake caliper brackets...bit of a noob with motorbikes so dont really no where to look for one.

any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Nick

Bit confused Nick. The caliper mounts straight onto the forks unless you mean this?

Welcome to the site too. :)

Re: Front Caliper Bracket Needed!!

basically i dont really no much about bikes....i rode over a hole in the ground a while back and ever since then the front brakes were making a scraping sound. When i took it into the shop to get some work done they told me that they had noticed that the front caliper bracket was slightly bent and causing the caliper to rub on the disk and cause uneven wear and that i would need to find a new caliper bracket...i have just spoken to a parts shop tho and they said that i would be unlikely to find a caliper bracket by itself and that they sell a second hand front caliper set for £69.00.

is this a reasonable price?? Seems ok to me as suzuki told me that a new front caliper set costs around £700!!

If it is that bracket, then it would appear from the parts pic that it isn't available seperately, hence the huge price. I would have thought someone on here will have a spare bracket from a replaced caliper. Worth holding on for as I'm sure it'll be cheaper than the 69 quid, although that price for a complete working caliper is, IMO, reasonable. Good luck

It isn't, it is only supplied with the whole calliper from new. Best to source a secondhand calliper, or wait for the replies from the above.....

I have a pair of calipers available with newish HH pads, make me an offer if you're interested.

Big hammer? File the lug down a bit (as I bet it's the lug which is catching)

If it is actually bent, which I doubt, are the forks aligned on the wheel correctly? I reckon there's some other problem, unless this hole was about 2 foot deep.

well it makes sense about the hole cos as soon as i hit that hole i felt and heard a scrapping sound on the front wheel and brakes. I took it to a proper suzuki garage to get some electronics fixed and they noticed it, said it was just the braket that is bent and needs replacing.

I think it's something else.

Any evidence of damage to the caliper itself? Because to bend a steel bracket is going to show some serious knockage to the alloy body of it! More likely (sorry!) is that the fork leg is a little twisted.

How big was this hole you rode into anyway?

well the mechanics in the shop said that the forks were fine and that the rest of the caliper was fine it was just the bracket that i needed to replace....
