Original or not?

Im looking to get back on the horse, and going to see this bike to mo for a tidy sum of 2500 euros.
Just wondering are those stickers original?
Obviously I will know when i see it but i thought i would test all your knoweledge.

Its a 2003 model.

they did not do a 2003 in black,

it looks like a 2004, with Original stickers

Shouldnt that grab rail be the same colour as the bodywork.

Yes, it should be black.

EDIT: Those are the original K4 stickers.

Re: Original or not?

+1 about the grab rail, but that could just have been replaced, as peeps tend to remove them,

but 2500 euros seem far too expensive.

(just off to check exchange rate)

Re: Original or not?

£2400?

thats far too much, where abouts are you? there is an 06 on here for £1900

Dangerous Dave 27-01-09 01:19 PM

Re: Original or not?

They are original stickers, just not from that year of SV. The grab rail is also from a silver model too, I would hazard a guess that this SV has been an accident repair.

Re: Original or not?

Even i'd say that was expensive and i don't know anything about anything.

Re: Original or not?

I saw a bike almost identical to that on autotrader for £2000ono. I'm pretty sure the 03's only came in blue or silver?
How many miles has it done? It would have to be under 5k for that sort of price, but it will probably be around 10k, in which case i would be happy to pay £1800 for it tops.

Re: Original or not?

I might be completely wrong, but has the tank been changed. I'm sure the K3's have "Suzuki" on the tank where the K4 has the small little "S" on it like the tank on that bike does.

03/04 k4 i think came in black just like that one, shellywoozles silver frame one is exactly the same, k3 had suzuki writtin on the tank where as k4 had the silver "s"

maybe you are all wrong. The price was put up in Euros ,so does said "Orger" come from across the water. If so ,then maybe the specs were different

It doesn't look like it has been very well looked after.

I`ve seen better looking buckets of Poo , alarm bells are ringing on this one , I would steer clear of it , you can find far better examples for less money .

Then again you could be completely right ;)

It's got a K3 rear end, painted as a black K4 with original K4 decals. They didn't make the K3 in black and the K4 was the first to have the chrome S on the tank. The grabrail looks like a silver painted one with corrosion eating through the paint

I wouldn't touch it. I'd travel over the water and buy a good one for far less money and personally import it into whatever country (I'm guessing RoI) you're living in. €2500 is a huge sum of money for that bike, there are hundreds of much better bikes far cheaper over here, and with the Euro being so strong they are even more of a bargain for EU buyers.

Re: Original or not?

It’s definitely a K3 rear sub-frame and side panels. K4 + side panels are a different shape to line up with the lower sub frame. K3 with SUZUKI on tank was available as a UK model in BLACK, but not SK3 so front bodywork is SK4 +..

SACK IT.

The pic of a black K3 in RoI sheds a different light on it.

The Republic of Ireland may well have got different colours to the UK. We may not have got black K3s, but they might have.

+ 1

The bike in the OP has a K3 subframe but it does have the K4 logo on the tank....

http://www.donedeal.ie/donedeal/photos2/Full?id=1052115

...which ever model it is it has been altered at some point in its life.

K4 logo on the tank with a K3 subframe, this difference in the models shows this bike is not the same as it was when it left the factory. Colour means nothing, there are bikes late registered in the UK.

rowdy 28-01-09 02:54 PM

Re: Original or not?

K4's had toolkit boxes in between rear wheel and shock, whereas my k3's toolkit just rattles around under the pillion seat. Also as has been said the side panels over the seat bolts are different the crease line runs completely different direction k3 to k4 on and offside one has a little cutout for the rear brake fluid reservoir.

Spokey 28-01-09 02:56 PM

Re: Original or not?

Grab rails probably just been polished - they are painted, get scratched so stripping the paint and polishing them up is easy enough.

Spokey
