Details for the West Yorkshire lot riding to the main meeting place @ lancaster services...

We are meeting:
  • just off Junction 24 of the m62.
  • There is a layby (point b) on the dual carriageway/link road which runs under the m62.
  • meeting here at 8:30am and leaving NO LATER than 8:45am...

For those who are unfamiliar with the area and are coming from the east (Leeds/York/Hull/Scarbrough/Belgium etc.) you will need to come off at junction 24, follow the road down to the roundabout, ride all the way around the roundabout and take the 5th exit to get to the layby.

You can click here or on the map above to see the live version on googlemaps...

Any questions? :)

I am coming up from Blackburn so any chance of meeting up with you at the Tickled Trout Hotel at junction 31 of the M6. Its just of the motorway so it will be a 5 min stop for you.

If anyone else is coming from the preston/blackburn area do you fancy meeting up here.

Not to sound like a miserable bugger but is that about 10-15 mins from the main meeting place? I thought that an initial gathering of people at various points from further a field would make it easier for clumps of people to get to the main meeting point together and in good time.

will you and yc be getting on at ainley top (j24) or saddleworth moor (j22)? If it's gonna be complicated I might just doddle across on my own since I know where I'm going :) I'll just wait and see what punyxpress says (can't for the life in me remember his real name lol)

Re: Hardy Bikers - west yorkshire squadron arrangements

it shouldn't take more than an hour and half to get up to the meeting point

probably saddleworth....but it would be a lot quicker just to get on up Ainleys, plus early in the morning sadlleworth is not very pleasant at this time of year. Ainleys would be a safer run, no moors roads to contend with

I think it all mainly depends on the weather. If it's crappy conditions on the saturday then just a swift ride to the digs and a night in may be in order with the main rideout being on the sunday being an option. If people feel like another bit of a bimble on the sunday assuming we get to do the main one on the saturday then am sure it can be arranged :-D

Is it true butty vans were invented for bikers?

not sure but apparently british racing green is derived from when motorsport first started in the early 1900's, the british team was given the number 13, so to combat the superstitions around the number they painted the car a colour which was deemed to be lucky at the time... green :D go and de-rail your own thread dave

+1... it was kinda the point of this thread in the first place lol

Re: Hardy Bikers - west yorkshire squadron arrangements

apparently YC is on his way up. So looks like I shall have to get out of my sick bed and discuss the matter!!
As far as i am aware before he does come, I have a nice map. The A arrow is pointing to Blackley New Road, which is the road to the M62 roundabout after the Ainley Top one, I put it in satelite view, so you can zoom in and see the layby, where all the little lorries are (and butty van me thinks) :-) . It is situated before the flyover, and before the A arrow
I am presuming so far this is where we shall meet, as its hopefully the safest place to stop. Fingers crossed the link works! :-),

righto, discussion discussed. Meet up ont 21st at the layby ont map at 8.30 am, with the intention of leaving no later than 8.45 am. Sounds ok to me. Should give us a good amount of time to get up to the big meet up ont M6 and have ourselves some brekky :-)
