I need a headlight!
 

I need a headlight guys, It's pretty mcuh the last thing I need to get my bike rideable.
Originally I was going to do a firebolt conversion but it's a lot of money & effort, probably won't look good in yellow and I'd drop it. It's for my 99 naked, can anyone recommend a good looking headlight unit, I want to stray from the old man look if possible.

Cheers husky, I've thought about the dominator/speed triple look but I've decided against. I'm just after something quick to sling on that looks a bit meaner than stock. Although perfectly happy to settle for stock as I need to be all working and ready to go by the 21st for a ride out.

I have used one off a Honda CB500, it's chrome, looks standard & works better than the standard SV one :)

Cheers , does anyone know the diameter of the standard lights. Are they 7"?
Badgerman how much you wanting for your standard?
Does anywhere sell normal bowl lights with black rims...wonder if that'd look any better.

Yeah they usually are. Same size on the Bandit (7") as the SV.

I'm gonna order a standard one just so it's ready in time for the ride out but if I never end up putting the firebolt fairing on I know what's going on it. Infact I could get that one ordered and sprayed in time for summer :D cheers

Aye I wish that cyclone one didn't have indicators built into it meh I think I'll probably go with that when I've got the time. Reckon it'd look ghey with the standard clocks though?

Nope would look good.
The picture of it is with the light stuck on a curvy so cant see a problem with the clocks.

would do fine for day riding only really. The whole 25w bulb thing ... you'd be better off with a candle trust me.

It's only the rim on mine that's bent. I can paper weld the crack in the bowl.

YC, future purchase wise what do you reckon to the clocks with and general fitment of that faired headlight thing bbadger linked.


If I fitted it I'd be tempted to keep my current indicators...

You can always leave the fitted indicators alone. Just don't wire new ones up. Does depend on the brackets supplied though. (you can usually drill them anyway)

Aye, the only reason I was thinking leaving the indicators was I thought my LEDs would be more noticeable and that the flasher unit'd make the ones in this headlight flash to slow but I've just realised it won't lol!
Did you mean I can drill the brackets so they fit round the clocks or to keep my indicators?

Im using some made up ones .... just with rubber and nylon washers to help the fit.

From the look of it you keep your original headlight brackets.

I'm not sure without seeing it whether it would interfere with the clocks, but if you can find some light alloy plate you can mount it pretty much where you want to get clearance. Or it might be fine in stock position.

Personally I reckon the big bowl lights are about as good as you're going to get.

thats how i got it, just some cut pieces of ally, moved them around to lower the light and what not but you can see the brackets.

Looks better suited to fit the pointy clocks.

Suck it and see TBH. Unless you want to fit pointy clocks or a different dash entirely.

The shape does suit it better, but can see any fitting issues, as i turned those plates round and the lights now a couple of inches lower so no clearence issues with the clocks at all !

Aye I think you're right, I just want it to look a bit sportier is all...
