Painful Morning.
Got about a mile to work and realised that for the second time in a week I had a problem with my rear tyre - so hop off, have a look and sure enough theres another bit of shrapnel in there.
So head off to Essential Rubber - I have to say 2-up with a rapidly flattening rear tyre is not fun through London Rush Hour traffic. So £245 later my Zed is sporting a new pair of Dunlop Roadsmarts and a new set of rear brake pads. So drop Vixis off at work and head to work myself, which is where the physical rather than finiancial pain comes in, a pidgeon eating some scraps at Smithfields Market decided to head-butt me. Fortunately it was just a glancing blow at lowish speeds, so no dead pidgeon and no me covered in cack. |
Re: Painful Morning.
Bloody hell man, not much luck there then :( Glad it wasnt too serious. ;)

Re: Painful Morning.
feckin hell. Get some ultraseal! £20 and no stress is much easier than £240.
Are pidgeons a real pain for bikers or something? I've only ever hit one in thousands of miles in the car but bikers always seem to be hitting the things. I saw an episode of traffic cops where a pheasant smashed through a guys visor at about 50mph and made a mess of his face (he also crashed the bike pretty bad). |
Re: Painful Morning.
pah, amateur...I expected a full account of carnage from splat the pigeon:wink:

Blimey doesn't sound like it was your morning at all. Least you didn't get pigeon guts all over your leathers and visor - now that would have been a pain to wash off

For that reason I'll never put a puncture sealant in my tyres. |
Re: Painful Morning.
I consider it good luck to get a puncture when the tyre is "down on its wear marker"
Last one I had was on a tyre that had only done 300 miles |
Re: Painful Morning.
Well I got the last puncture repaired last week, cos I was hoping it would last till the end of next month.
However when I get a second puncture within a week, I take that as a hint to get the tyre off the bike. Superstition I know, but I tend to follow my feelings these days...... |
Re: Painful Morning.
was that on a brand new tyre? cause if so thats stinky bad luck :-(
