Wanted: Sv650 k3 - k5

As title says :) Don't think my budget will cover anything higher, plus the cost of me getting insured makes me cringe everytime I do a quote.

Budget is £1800 - £2200, depending on condition / milage.

Re: Wanted: Sv650 k3 - k5

My 16500 mile K6 is up for sale if you want it. I had an accident at the end of November so there's some tatty bits that need attention so you would need to treat it as a minor restoration project:
  • Needs a new rear shock, just mileage/wear and tear, nothing to do with the accident, but I will be going to collect one from a breaker today and hope to fit it this week
  • Has a couple of small dents in the tank which need a paintless dent removal (probably about 80 quid)
  • Needs a new front mudguard, I'm just waiting for one to come up on ebay in the right colour (usually about 30-40 quid), but a brand new one from a Suzuki dealer already painted in the right colour (YHH) is £71.45 +VAT (part code 53111-16G10-YHH FENDER FRONT)
  • The tail fairing is a very slightly different colour red (folk don't notice unless you point it out), but in perfect condition. I'm just waiting for a new one to come up on ebay in exactly the right colour then I'll flog that one again so sorting that out shouldn't cost anything. Unless of course you wanted to buy a new one from Suzuki already painted for £66.15 +VAT (Part code 45501-16G21-YHH COVER SET SEAT TAIL)
  • The engine paint is flaking on the engine covers, but this is fairly normal for a Suzuki of this mileage and I have the paint code to get a pot of touch up paint mixed up for between 10 and 20 quid.
  • 1 inch tear in the pillion seat, saw a brand new one on ebay go for 15 quid, i was just outbid, but FG1 sold me his seat cowl.
Otherwise the bike is in good nick as you would expect for a 2006 bike. It was a nice bike before the accident, so once all these bullet points above are sorted, it will be a nice bike again. It has full Suzuki service history so you can be sure the engine is a good un. Front forks were replaced with brand new ones under warranty at about 10K miles (the invoice will confirm the mileage) as the paint started to flake on them (again common for a Suzuki), so they only have about 6K miles on them.

If your interested - price would be set to take account of it's condition and would certainly be around the bottom end of your budget. I'm in Solihull so I could ride the bike over to see you and I'll be very honest with you about the bike, let you see it all and take you though everything that needs doing. I've been on this forum for three years and I value the friends I've met on here, the rideouts I enjoy, and I value my reputation within the group, so if I sell to someone on the forum it has to be a fair sale.

I'm not going to hide anything from you, you will see the condition for yourself, and you would be buying it with your eyes completely open, but it would be sold as seen just like any other private sale. What we would do is look at how much the same age and mileage is going for in Autotrader, figure out how much needs spent on it knock that off, then negotiate off a bit more for your trouble. In short you'd be getting a bit of a bargain, but thats all I can reasonably expect to get for the bike as if I try to sell it at the normal price, there will always be another somewhere else in better nick or with lower mileage. What I will do though is take it to a dealer for a trade in value and obviously we won't be able to go below this otherwise the sale doesn't make sense for me.

If you want opinions on the bike post in the SV Ecosse section (I've just moved down from Scotland) and ask how the bike looked at the "Largs Ice Cream Run", plus it was out on the Madlanders Peak District Rideout last weeked, but I don't think many folk payed attention, and hopefully assuming I get this shock sorted this week, it will be out on the Barmouth or Bust rideout next week.

Pictures of the bike now

Why the front fender needs replaced - new one ready painted £71.45 +VAT

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...rontfender.jpg

Dents in tank need paintless dent removal, I'd expect about 80 quid.

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...al4/dents2.jpg

The dented Fuel exhaust, could easily pull out dent or stubby, but the original is with the bike also

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...uelexhaust.jpg

the original exhaust can with link pipe

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...suzexhaust.jpg

a missing nut on the fairing, suspect this is a few pounds from a Suzuki dealer

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...l4/fairing.jpg

small tear in the pillon seat, but you also have the seat cowl as already fitted to the bike, the colour is not patchy, I just wiped it down with a damp cloth before taking the phpot and it's drying

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...l4/pillion.jpg

Engine cases, normal Suzuki corrosion, nothing to do with the accident

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...al4/engine.jpg

Replacement shock, I will fit this week hopefully (want to do Barmouth or bust on Saturday)

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...bal4/shock.jpg

Slight colour difference on the side fairing panel, but not noticable unless you look for it to get a new one ready painted in the correct colour is £66.15 +vat

Re: Wanted: Sv650 k3 - k5

Put these pictures in the thread rather than a PM as I will offer it for general sale on the rest of the forum if you decide you don't want it.

The bike is in good condition otherwise. You don't need to spend any money on it immediately, you can happily ride it as it is, then fix it up as and when the necessary bits come up on ebay. If you just want a workhorse as a commuter bike, you don't need to spend any money at all, it could just be a cheap reliable, bargain bike.

PM me with your thoughts.
