New guy with a pointy one.
Sure I'll have a few questions at some point, but for now, just saying hello :)
Am 22 from Cheshire, did my DAS last month (with Probike, in Queensferry) after riding a Yamaha YZF-R125 for 6 months, have now bought a 2006/06 SV650S in metallic blue with less than 3,000 miles on the clock. It was 150 miles away (purchased from a Suzuki dealer), 95% motorway, not exactly a fun ride back... but at least I found out the seat is nice and comfy! Overall pleased with the bike, but I'm finding the stock Dunlop tyres poor in anything but ideal conditions, oh and the front suspension is a tad soft for my liking. Looking to sort both those things soon. |

Welcome aboard.
Enjoy the SV, and don't believe a thing those curvy owners say about us pointy types!! |
Re: New guy with a pointy one...
Welcome and watch out - too much time here and you'll have a list of mods longer than your arms !! I joined a couple of months ago, happy with my stock pointy and now.... double bubble screen, new indicators, new can, oil cover, tail tidy, k&n filter, michelin pilot road 2's,fender extender, gsxr rear shock (still to be fitted) and planning- front springs/gsxr front end, dogbones, rearsets, hugger, belly pan and braided lines. Maybe I'm just too easily led ??

Re: New guy with a pointy one.
Ta for all the welcomes, been looking in the regional bit - will try and make one of meets/ride outs at some point.
Think I'll be going with the Pilot Road 2 CT's as well, then looking at how much it'd cost to sort out the forks out. |
Re: New guy with a pointy one.
I've got a quote from a guy in glasgow who specializes in suspension. He recommends doing both the front and the rear springs so that the bike is balanced, I think he was quoting around £250 - 300 to do both springs, oil etc and to set the bike up properly for my weight. However i managed to get a K3 rear shock so I'm going to get hiom to fit that and do the front end

Re: New guy with a pointy one.
GSXR1000 rear shock for about £60 off eBay and the bolt for it will be about £4 and £80 for Hagon/Maxton/Hyperpro springs and oil for the front end . I did my own rear shock swap and put new springs in the front with help from Luckypants . I know how to do the front now and have an Abba stand to assist with such duties ;)
