Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
Just been quoted £123 for a rear Storm fitted to the bike, its a local place, so no messing about, is this a good price? I dont really want to go through all the agro of buying one off the net, driving the Bike & car down there to have it fitted.

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
I was quoted £103 (ride in/out) for an SV rear from the guy I like to use about a month ago, but I think Avon's prices have gone up since then. I can only suggest your try one or two other places and see what they quote.

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
I paid around £75~ for the tyre from busters and then £20 fitting to the bike. 2 weeks ago. (Avon storm on the rear)
No agro.. just tie the rear tyre to the rear of the bike took under 5 mins to tie it up. |
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
or you could wear it around your torso like a giant comedy inflatable ring :)

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
Try FWR if you don't mind not having "the latest" boots.
Just got a AV46AzaroST for a great price. (What I used before Avon brought out Storms) Just the same, apart from the rear 46 looking super sexy. http://www.fwr.co.uk/indexright.htm That price is a little salty if its a 160 and fitted. But what price convenience? If you use your bike everyday......Bish bash bosh back-on-the-road. If not, what about, buy tyre on net, take wheel off bike, chuck both in car, go get fitted? |
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
I got a pair for £165 Supplied and fitted.

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
m and p doing pirelli diablo pair for 138 delivered, the fastone doing maxxis pair -for 104 delivered, bike shop up here can't get the maxxis in quick enough before there selling out, can't even buy them trade at that price.

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
Cheapest I can find is £198. Anyone know anywhere where I could get them cheaper?

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
Aside from the people comparing apples and oranges (buying off the net, and taking them for fitting, or fitting them selves, or comparing different tyre brands) I'd say £120 is probably a little over what you'd hope to pay.
However, everyone's prices have gone up lately, and for ride-in ride-out, with them disposing of the tyre, I pay around £230 for a pair of fitted tyres (Michelin PR2s & Dunlop Road Smarts) for my ZX6R. The SV's tyres should be a smidge cheaper, but still makes that about right. Jambo |

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
Usual place I go charges £100 for rear, £90 for front and £180 for set. All fitted inc
|
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
I just had front and rear Storms fitted for £210.
Rode in on the way to work, picked it up on the way home, so no messing with even taking the wheels off. Worked out well as the guy gave the bike a bit of a once over as well, kind of like a pre-service check. I used Revs on Beverley road, so fairly local for you Steve. |
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
I paid £96 fitted to a loose wheel today, they would have wanted another £30 to fit to the bike so i guess the same sort of price.

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
I think you all have rip off merchants for tyre fitters. I can't believe how different people have given such different prices in their quotes for the same tyre and service.
My fitter is so customer focused, recently he didn't think I needed to spend 90 quid on replacing my front tyre. I felt there was something wrong with it, he did not. At the end of the day it was me spending money, but he'd rather not 'hard sell' if its not necessary! Just wish he could wangle that Avon garantee of free tyre replacement with puncture etc...had a few of those over the last year, and they've always been just out...grrrr! |
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
They seem to have knocked a lot of the best deals on the head though sadly.
Though they appear to be selling a viper supersport front for £30!!! |
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
If you are going to buy tyres online, please phone the local place you're planning on having them fitted for a price for fitting tyres you bring in yourself. Many bike shops including the one I use charge much more if they don't supply the tyres as it's still their time, their equipment, and often them disposing of the old tyre.
Many places make little or no money on the fitting, and make it all on selling the tyres, so they're not going to offer the same price if you bring that part along with you. That's not to say you can't work a good deal out by getting your own tyres online, but you do need to make sure you're aware of all the costs before you buy. Jambo |
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
For comparison, my local guy charges a tenner to fit tyre and balance (I take wheel off).
Seems pretty reasonable (to him) for c10 minutes of his time and 75p worth of valve core, tyre soap and lead. |
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
Same rates here Chris but then I made a bead breaker and balancer and started fitting them myself. All my tyres come from M&P/Busters when they are on special offer. I just store them till needed. Cheaper in the long run.
|
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
I keep meaning to make a bead breaker, I just use big vice, but that's in the shed and it's a PITA carrying wheels down to the shed.

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
Pirelli Diablo Strada £135 a pair from Busters. Sounds like a bargain.
|
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
Local triumph garage wanted 245 pounds for tyres and fitting...think i'll call around...although they had maxxis ST type tryed for 190 fitted....
|
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
just been quoted £175 fitted for a pair. Any one reckon I can better it?

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
national tyres barnsley but I think I'm just gonna buy online for £145 + p&p (if the p&ps no more than £10) and get them fitted for £15 at my local. Save me driving to barnsley.
|
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
hmm 190 from wheelhouse tyres ride in/out....getting closer
|
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
mine was a loose wheel price, everywhere I've spoke to says a tenner difference between l/w and ride in/ out. So knock em down a fiver and you're at the same price.
|
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
aii seems a fair enough price tbh, and its closer to me than protyre which may be cheaper but petrol money would hike it all up! I'm going to pop in next week, will return with my satisfaction rating...
|
Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
ditto, tbh I'm only trying them because everyone swears blind they're the best thing ever I'm currently on d208rs that are about £100 a pair but wearout after 4.5k-5k ish. and they were sticky enough, but they're the only tyre other than stock I've had on the sv so want to try others. Funny thing with the dunlops was though that the front and back wore at the same rate.

Re: Good Price for a rear Avon Storm
aye. my front dunlop cracked and perish it little in the 2months it's been on but I'm going to put that down to the possibility of me dripping a bit of brakefluid on it whilst changing the lines.
