John

Apologies for contacting you in this way but I wondered if your forum may be able to help us out !!!!

We seem to have troubles with some SV650 specs we have - only for the rear lines on the bikes strangely !!!

Do you think you / your members could help us out and give us some info to help us with the kits we produce please ?

I could just do with knowing :

1 Which SV650 models had three lines on the front WITH a splitter under the headlamp (ie three separate hoses on the front)

2 Rear hose lengths

We have hassles with the rears and have the info as follows :

Suzuki
SV650 N X-K2 600mm Centre To Centre Of Banjos
SV650 S X-K2 600mm Centre To Centre Of Banjos
SV650 N K3-K8 550mm Centre To Centre Of Banjos
SV650 S K3-K5 410mm Centre To Centre Of Banjos
SV650 S K6-K8 350mm Centre To Centre Of Banjos

If you could help in any way it would be very much appreciated as we have had problems in the past on this one - ANY member who has had a hose sent wrongly by us can return it for a replacement.

If you'd like to help improve HEL's customer service and therefore help fellow SV owners who may be purchasing HEL hoses in the future, please drop an email to Simon at simon.lane@helperformance.com

I'm fairly certain that only mk1 curvy's have the splitter under the bottom yoke. I think all mk2 pointy's have single hose that splits into 3 on the r/h fork leg. I know in effect that it's still a splitter, but you can't actually disconnect the hoses.

I shall measure my rear hose meantime.

never using this company again..

i gave them all the information they needed but they still couldn't get it right...

useless company as far as i'm concerned..

i even offered to send the OEM pipes down to them but never got replies from emails.. this was after the second attempt.. and now they want sizes from the org.. well sorry they can get stuffed as far as i'm concerned...

Interesting! They are aware there is a problem then. I had trouble with a rear line I got earlier this year which was miles too long

Hassles with the rears? They have enough with the fronts too!

All curvys have splitter under headlight.

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

Oh wonderful. I just ordered a full set of HEL lines on e-bay. Gave them my model and year......hope that they send the correct lenghts. I did have some hesitation about ordering out of the USA. Hope my lines are correct when they get here.

For HEL's infomation the K6 Naked bike has the three lines and splitter on the front. My rear line is about 14 and 1/4 inches center of banjo to center of banjo. I calculate that to be 36 cm give a little.

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

I ordered HEL lines of ebay for my K3S and they fit fine although all the lines are a bit longer than OEM.

Another thing to add to the list of "must does". I want RAINBOW HOSES!!

Oh well, 18th in a week.. chain and sprockets...sort the leaky cover.. braided hoses then....

AZ Pete 13-05-09 08:25 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

Now you tell me Jamiebridges. I had searched this forum and others.....the consensus seemed to be "all braided lines are alike". I looked at Goodridge, Galfer Speigler etc., saw a wright up about using HEL, and thought "what the HEL" and ordered a set, due to the very competetive price.

dizzyblonde 13-05-09 08:30 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

Because of Hel and their silly guff ups I got a rather nice black set of hoses for my curvy, which were sent in a box that said K4-K8 on it(or something to that effect) to a member on here.
I can't complain...I got em brand new for half price!

And yes all 99-02 have the three lines splitter thing at the front.

yorkie_chris 13-05-09 08:35 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

All pointies AFAIK have the splitter box bolted to the fork leg instead.

dizzyblonde 13-05-09 08:43 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

aye, isn;t one of the lines longer than the other, so that it goes over the mud guard and feeds i together with the shorter one, down one fork leg?

yorkie_chris 13-05-09 08:46 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

Yup. Pointies are wierd.

Well, I've given Simon at HEL this link and I'm sure he'll enjoy reading these posts. I had HEL lines on my curvy. I can't comment on the fit on the front as I was fitting risers and ordering longer lines for my S anyway. The rear was fine.

yorkie_chris 13-05-09 09:04 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

Mine arrived a fair bit longer than standard.

I really don't see why it should be so hard when you can get a set of used stock brake lines off eBay and match them up.

Quality and finish I can't complain about at all, my stainless bits are like new under all the salt and crud. Just sort the fit issues out and they'd be on a winner.

Jamiebridges123 13-05-09 09:07 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

Poor Simon as he reads these posts probably. :|

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

Well, Simon needs to know. And if he's a good businessman, he'll sort out these issues.

I'm surprised that the rear lines vary so much. I'm sure the swing arm lengths are the same on the N and S versions. The footpegs are usually lower on the N, so that might lower the master cylinder but not by much.

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

opposite to the norm here i've had a really good experience with hel. i was supplied a set of lines from an online accessories shop when i got my bike a couple of years back and unbeknown to me i was sent a set of lines for a naked curvy, not the faired set as ordered. i contacted hel to see what length their lines should be for a faired curvy set and they confirmed i had the wrong set to their spec. they replaced the set FOC, all i had to do was send the wrong ones back to them after receiving the replacements. never even had the hassle of going back to the original supplier. and fit and finish on my curvy seems fine, so i'm slightly puzzled why they're are having to ask our advice?? never checked them against the old lines tho

yorkie_chris 13-05-09 09:27 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

Yeah must say they're good at getting fresh bits out. But it's a total PITA.

Paul the 6th had sorted out to come over to mine for fitting lines, he turned up with wrong ones. Wasted day and petrol because of wrong sticker on a box.

charlie13 13-05-09 09:32 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

guess that's maybe a good place for them to look at if they find their spec's for the lines are correct. the greatest stock & orders system in the world won't count for anything if some chump has put the wrong label on the box and it means lots of folks get the wrong bits

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

My issue with the HEL lines on my bike are the extended ones that are made for ABM comfort kits , my hoses just about fit and it`s tight at that , I told the company who I got the kit from and was told that HEL made the lines and they are designed for SV650S K3 onwards with ABM comfort kits ..... well I beg to differ . I had to use them in the end and what a faff to fit , took me longer to get those fitted than it did to remove the old Yoke and fit the ABM kit . If they had just been an Inch or so longer they would have been bob on .

Should Simon@HEL read this, I'll be cheeky... can we get a discount in return for offering this information? :D

I'll send the email shortly, I've currently got the SV up on the NWS stand whilst I'm doing a little work & have been meaning to get some braided lines sorted as well as replace a disc & front pads, and do a complete brake overhaul (I'm not busy, honest!!!).

So long as I get the right length hoses, the cheapest company wins IMO. Hint hint. :smt112

it dont matter what you tell Simon he pays no bloody attention to what you say... he goes by what the data book tells him...

all i can say is THE DATA BOOK IS WRONG, and if you are reading this Simon 'go and buy a set of hoses off ebay'... don't add any more bloody length, try to make the hoses the size they are supposed to be ooohhh and while i'm at it, please try and make sure that you actually put the correct size of banjo bolts in the kits and not just some random ones. for the record the size for the pointy is 10x1.25, my kit came with some 10x1 and some 10x1.25... yes you are a comedian...

which reminds me: anyone want to buy a set of black HELish brake lines, they might fit a curvy or they might not but they defiantly don't fit a pointy. i can give you the lengths so you can measure for yourself...

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

i have fitted HEL lines to two of my previous bikes and had no issues at all.
They are a good product IMO.

How much for a set for my curvey? I'll happily give them a chance if the a) price is right and b) hoses are the correct bloody length.

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

About £40 I would have thought, don't order if you need them quick though I needed mine within the week and was assured I'd get them it's been about 2 months now and I've still not been sorted. Hel couldn't give a ****e either.

Jamiebridges123 14-05-09 08:07 PM

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

Kay I'll buy goodridge. Full set off fleabay for £54.99 unless Mr HEL wants to send me a set and if they fit I'll pay him the £40.. ;)

Simply put I can't be bothered with the hassle.

Aye, I paid £55 for my goodridge (inc all s/s banjos & fittings) in the end and they still ain't right. But they were too long as opposed to too short and were there when I needed them.

I had the same thing with them. Asked to send the lot back as id bought another set that day and fitted, and they told me i couldnt. They also told me that it was "********" that they had a reputation on this forum for sending the wrong parts out.

Wont ever deal with them again - i understand the problem with the banjo bolt, but they should determine the correct size or send both in the first place. The last thing you need, once you've striped, cleaned and rebuild the calipers, is to not be able to do up the lines at the master cylinder. Couldnt use the bike for a couple of days. C|_|nts

Utter c##ts for going against the terms of the distance selling act too.

Re: HEL Performance Systems need your help

well i a slight defence... i took the hoses that were supposed to fit my pointy and tried them on a curvy... guess what.. yup that's right they fitted perfect and i mean perfect.. banjo's were all in the right place no twisting or nowt, lengths were spot on and they were a joy to fit... this set was made by simon himself.. but still the fact remains that they were supposed to be for a pointy...
