Who else has a Gladius?

It seems to me quiet a few on here have a Gladius apart from me.

So come on then who are you AND have you done any mods yet.

I'll start.

Removed GladAss stickers.
I have painted the grab handles, rear brake carrier, rear cush drive, Sprocket and a few fasters Saturn Black.
Chewys- Stuff Tax disc holder.
Replaced the chain guard screws with S/S screws i had left from my SV1000.
R&G Bobbins. Nicked of my Z750J6.
Cut the Silver side panels and resprayed what's left.
Relocated side stand cut out cables behind the frame.
Made a radiator grill cos a refuse to pay £50 for a Evo- Tech one.
Motografix tank pad.

To Do.

I will I suppose get the Evo-Tech tail tidy when I've got some money.
End can. Propley a GPR one.
Either powder coat the footrests or try to and retro fit some from a SV650 curvy cos they will fit.
Crash mushrums.
Renthals.
Aprilla black mirrows.

Here's a old pic.

See I think that's a nice-ish looking machine! (Overall, without the snowplough and silly stickers etc)

How the hell is a tail tidy going to be made for that i wander, the ,mould goes right around the light unit. Be interesting to see if they make one, or an undertray for that matter.

Nice looking bike now with all those naff bits removed. With a decent set of rearsets or powder coated foot rest hangers I think it would improve even further.

Nice job.

Re: Who else has a Gladius?

I wonder, what made you go from an SV1000 to a gladius?

Anyway, I am intersted in a few things wtih the new gladius, so I wonder if you owners would keep a bit of a record...

Fuel consumption - best / worst (if you can, quote miles for given litres of petrol used)

Build quality - typically things like paintwork, axle bolt / nuts, downpipe etc all give away the build quality

Reliability - if something goes wrong, document it :) we all know on here that early SV's had duffy regulator/rectifiers

Evo-tech have made one. £70 plus . I'll get one as and when funds are available. Looks good but they have put the key lock underneath the undertray.

Next job on the list. I'll probably get them powder coated Black although I do know curvy footrest hangers fit. I've measured them. Only problem is how to mount the can.

Sold my SV1000 because it was costing to much to run. Biggest mistake ever. The price of petrol dropped shortly afterwords. I got myself a Z750J6, Didn't like it, Fancied another v-twin and saw the Gladie. I like challange.

More upto date photo.

What does the Gladius look like without those long wing things behind the footpegs? Do they serve any purpose or just contribute to the flow-y swoop-y look of the bike?

e: do you have a photo/link for the tail tidy? Can't see it on EvoTech's website.

Some pics of the Evotech tail tidy.

I can see the pillion footrests are attached but it doesn't look like anything else important is attached to them? Unless the rider's footrests are attached too?

I just think that, outside of the ridiculous exhaust, they're the most stupidly designed bits on the bike. Get rid of them and the Gladius wouldn't look half-bad.

Blue.......there really was no other option. Pink was a non starter...and my partner didnt like the green. She informed me.......that as a nurse........the last time she had seen THAT colour......it was something inside a suction bottle;)

Re: Who else has a Gladius?

Just shy of the 600 mile service on mine now.

Most of my miles have been with Mrs Fud as pillion and I am absolutely amazed how efficient the engine is for consumption.
I've not took it over 6k, but rev it freely upto 6k through the gears. Average top ups have coincided with return journeys home just happens before he light coming on. On average, i've been getting 140 - 145 miles from 9.5 to 9.7 litres....... 67mpg. Stunned as I make no attempt to ride for economy other than keeping under 6k until the first service.
Never had anything like that from the curvy, k3 or k5.

Winter mods will be a rear shock more suitable for our combined rider & pillion weight with fork springs & oil to match.

It may get a little louder also.:D

I was getting the same sort of mileage when i was running mine in too. Not bad really considering how small the tank is. Not getting that now of coarse:rolleyes: Round about 50 to the gallon.

As to the rear shock, I've got my old SV1000 shock sitting in the garage, So i'm going to try and fit that. I'd be interested in what you use.

Got to admit its stupid tank size.why stick plastic panels on,tank bag won't hold, when most people would probably prefer more fuel, I fill up near to 200 most times.

I use the hole to attach my bungees for my tailpack! Very useful lol.

I am enjoying my gladius very much, going in for first service in a week! Then taking a drive up to my friend's from Southampton to Essex. Can't wait!

Nice to see more bit's becoming available. All thougth the R&G stuff is a little bit more expensive than the Evotech stuff, Is it because the R&G stuff is better made or is just the name.
