Arai Helmets
Am looking to buy a new helmet and have settled on arai as fit seems really good and glasses can be worn in an emergency.
My problem is which to go for iam am looking at saltire design and have a choice of two the viper gt 380(approx) or the astro r(290) approx viper also comes with freebies(helmet city) bag visor care kit(supposedly worth over £100) is viper worth extra. Cheers:smt023:smt023 |
Re: Arai Helmets
I got my Viper GT for £289, bag and pinlock included. Comfy lid but a little noisey - Ipod cures that.

Re: Arai Helmets

(sorry thought I got GT as I searched for GT) |
Re: Arai Helmets
Go for the viper, meh same as kwak got a condor and the diff is noticeable, when me and my Dad went looking for lids for him, the interior difference between the condor and all models above is a lot different, the viper etc i found more comfortable as well, all arais except the condor have pinlocks in the box as well but if you buy a tinted visor make sure its pinlock ready and try to haggle and extra pinlock :thumright:

Re: Arai Helmets
my condor came with pinlock.
|
Re: Arai Helmets
I've got an Astro R and have no complaints - also came with pinlock etc.

Re: Arai Helmets
Viper GT has lots of vents which is awesome, being a girlie I have to consider my hair. With them all closed my hair is a mess 9hot and sweaty) when I take off lid. With some open its lovely and vented.
The chin pull down vent as well is good for when I forget my snood. I am glad I paid that bit extra, never looked back. (And I didnt even need a new lid) |
Re: Arai Helmets
On helmet city website viper works out at 95 more expensive than astro race but you get all this for free(whoooo)

Re: Arai Helmets
I got a new Arai the other week... a Condor... its my first Arai ever. Feels nice, noise level seems the same as my KBC and some other helmets I've owned.
|
Re: Arai Helmets
Just wear earplugs for the windnoise. It's a good idea even if you don't think the helmet's particularly noisy IMHO.
I've got a condor myself (budget reasons). Really like it. Fairly noisey without plugs, but I'd never ride without plugs on a journey more than 10 mins. |
Re: Arai Helmets
What did you opt for in the end?
|
Re: Arai Helmets
still not decided bbut its going to be the viper just have to decide wether its patriotic and saltire or go for design with sinister blue. Too many choices.
|
Re: Arai Helmets
Good choice. Whatever you decide sure you will be happy with. I am very very happy with sinister red and glad I paid that bit extra. Post up when you decide.
Seems like saltire is this years isn't it .... it is nice. |
Re: Arai Helmets
Have just paid for a shiny new sinister blue from evilbay.(i know but seller has sold lots off helmets and has very good f/b) and at £210 delivered it was 140 cheaper than the saltire and that can now go to my exhaust fund(looking at nice shiny stainless warrior)

Re: Arai Helmets
I have an Astro-R and it took some getting used to - but now its broken in I love it - bit noisy though - cant ride above 40mph without ear plugs!
Had it "serviced" at the Arai Service Centre at the TT couple of weeks ago - they took the side pods off and adjusted it all nicely and cleaned the vents etc - all for free :) |
Re: Arai Helmets
Well new helmet turned up and must say it feels good on will just have to get out on bike to try it for noise. Also specs will fit nicely when i cant be bothered with lenses.
Now where to buy an iridium visor. |
