I would recommend either R&G or ebay (both the top two hits from the search).

Take it with the humour with which it was intended. The sun is out after all!

Seriously though, unless there happens to be somewhere having a special offer (pretty rare) or a second hand set in perfect condition on ebay, I would recommend R&G direct. next day delivery in most cases.

Slightly off course reply.......just renewed my insurance with Carole Nash and got a set of R&Gs for free.
I think the critera is - fully comp and >£200 for your insurance.

this is who you need to contact for Motosliders. You can't buy them in this country, but this guy is extremely reliable. I've bought three sets off him now

Yeh +1 on Dizzy's post. I bought them from him and got running commentary on their travels until they reached my door.

Yep, he's the man to talk to (and Motosliders are the ones to get, they're the business, none of your bendy R&G nonsense unless you have fairing lowers). Nate at Motosliders does sell direct to but it's generally easier to go through Blair.

yup.

They grind down instead of snapping off, as the bar they're fitted on goes right through the frame and the engine, they don't break whatever they are mounted on, unlike the R&Gs. They are a very strong nylon/plastic stuff, and they are pretty long, I bang my legs on them sometimes when I'm moving the bike.
I do have a pic somewhere of the result of my crash. What I did find is that they do loosen slightly, so you can twist them round for another go:smt104(not that I want to) then re torque them up again. There was no damage to my radiator, no damage to tank, no crack to frame, obviously it didn't save everything, I didn't expect it to.
The gear lever toe piece snapped off, and my huge curvy indicator lense broke, but that saved any scraping on my fairing, that just cracked in one clear swoop, which has been held together with tape since, as I haven't found a new one, and I can't be bothered repairing it, as its not that noticeable.
The rear plastics were saved by the rentec rack, which persuaded me to go back to Blair and buy the swinger bobbins, and a spare engine bung for when i can be bothered to take the worn one off.
Originally I bought this (now well worn) set from Luckypants....they were the only thing that was salvageable from his SV apart from the gel seat when he crashed his! i have since bought the full set for my beloved yellow SV, I really recommend them.

thanks Dizzy, thats exactly what I'm looking for. When I have offs they tend to be big fast ones, superficial damage I'm not bothered about, normally just need the bike to remain repairable so I can get back out on track without wasting a day.

I'm currently using some Motrax DHM protectors which are excellent but I dont think they make them anymore. I've had two fairly big fast slides on them and they are still up for the job. Didnt stop my screen and front fairing breaking last time off but then the bike was somersaulting into the scenery at the time.

Dont we get an org discount with this guy if I remember rightly?

I really don't know on that one. I just emailed him direct. But considering you can buy the whole set(engine and swingers) cheaper than R&Gs IIRC, it didn't bother me not to have had a discount.

Another vote for the frame sliders from Blair. Ordered them last week, arrived today. I've had to cut the fairing slightly on my curvy, as i've got lower fairing as well, but its not a massive job. All I need to do now, is undo the bloody engine bolt so I can fit them on.

Re: Where to get Crash protector from

Personally I would get a set of Motosliders, either from Nate at Motosliders or from Blair at SV Racing Parts. Motosliders are more effective and cheaper too.

The shape of the bung and the strength of the bolt are the two main weakness' to the R&G design. When you over come these two issues, a few more come to light which is why I do not recommend them especially as an engineer at R&G will agree that it is a flawed design. However, they do perform a little better than any of the cheap bungs which bolt to either the front or rear cylinder mount

A crash bung will not stop all damage, but in 90% of accidents I would say a decent crash bung would keep the repair costs down and possibly save a write off.
