How often do you replace your battery?

How often do you replace your battery??

Mine is now 3 1/2 years old and at the time I usually replace them (3 yrs.)....but I was wondering how long does a battery really last???

Going on a long trip next month and wouldn't want it die along the way.

Just replaced my Daytona battery a month ago and that was pretty much 3 years to the day!

I change it when it shows signs of struggling.

Both our curvys were on the original batteries, and reg/recs come to that.:)

One was 5 years old and 50k, the other 7 and 30k.

+1

But if my bikes are off the road for more than a few weeks the battery gets hooked up to a charger. (For about 5months in the case of the GSX)

SV battery is OE and 6yr old 20k+ , GSX14 is OE too and 7yr old with 52k on it.

Never any bother.

Never needed to change a battery on a bike I owned for any length of time. Changed my DRZ battery after buying it 2nd hand, because it died almost straight away!

My bikes go on the Optimate if not used for a couple of weeks.

My battery started to struggle when it got to about five years old. Bought an Optimate to which it's hooked up every night now which cured the problem. So, still on the OE battery at nearly ten years old.

Never replaced a battery on my bike, had the SV 3 years, and at 30+k miles and 7 years old I believe it was still on the original.

The GSX-R is still on the original, but then it's only 3 years old and has done less than 6k miles.

Same here, ZX6 now on it's third battery - approx 5 years each for the first two, SV1000 is six years old and the original battery is still fine.

My 11 year old VFR is still on the original Yuasa battery. No signs of struggling yet. I use an Optimate to care for it when the bike's in the garage.

3 1/2 years 17000miles

it didn't show any signs of stuggeling, just died over a weakend:(

Is peace of mind is worth £60?

hmmm three years later, and a fair few zaps on the old jumper pack it ain't dead yet...I reckon its on its last legs but it refuses to give up. I use one battery between both bikes, no point having two, waste of money1

as long as it gets through this next couple of weeks, I'll be glad.

You was robbed mate-----Back of beyond on the Isle of Skye and the guy came out to me and fitted it for £40---absolute bargain

TBH it would have probably cost more locally.Big thumbs up to PETER

Re: How often do you replace your battery?

Well at 3 1/2 years my battery seems fine and would probably continue on for a good while longer....However that "piece of mind" is worth a great deal.
Especially if you travel alone in remote mountain areas where often there may not be another person for 25 miles in any direction. (sometimes more)

Nice scenery and roads ...but a bad place to have a dead battery.
I'll be putting a new one in before the trip next month.
