Fancied a bit of fish for dinner tonight. So on the wife's shopping list I add fresh haddock or cod.


she has just phoned me, I have got you some fresh smoked cod.


No you haven't.


She doesn't want a repeat of when she came home with "black halibut" when I wanted halibut and I made her take it back and ask for real halibut. Our local fishmonger must see her coming a mile away

Also not all smoked fish is actually smoked using smoke, some of it is done chemically (soaked in "flavouring") so it could be considered uncooked.

Also would you eat it as it came out of the package (and not as Sushi/Sashimi I will add)?

But then you did send her out knowing you might have a repeat of the halibut incident, so in essence you naturally asked her knowing the possibility of it happening again would be quite high. ;)

No, I had assumed (yes I know it is the mother of all cockups) that she would have learned by her previous mistake. If he tries to sell you something different to what you have asked for. Tell him no thanks.

Now I normally like my Stilton. With a large vintage port of course.

However, a friend supplied me with a big lump of blackstick blue 2 weeks a go and that was very nice.


Todays present from the wife was Cashel blue, I have just had a quick taste. she is forgiven

ahhhhh quite the connoisseur then Mr Wilk....can't say I've tried that, can pretty much say I've tried all the cheese in the land, many many moons ago I ran the the deli in Tesco, so had lots of time to sneak a taster when nobody was looking ;-)

ok I just grown a set...

they must grow into it. as I 've just had to move 2 big green Tescos carrier bags from very very near the gas hob... As I could smell something that didn't smell like food burning !

Ermm, not in our house. Mr Lou does the shopping whilst I walk behind with the trolley, he cooks so I wouldn't have a clue what to buy.

Though I do do the cleaning, along with mowing the lawns. :)

Life is so much easier in our house, no foolish boys to upset the apple cart. Carol asked me a while ago if I would like a curry and she then proceeded to explain the differences between all of the curries of the world that she can make. These days, my asking her if I can have one of her specials means "I want a fantastic Thai curry". It is so simple. :chef:

Mind you, she also reads New Scientist, has mechanical Engineering qualifications and has gorgeous eyes. Little old me only has a degree or two and has successfully attended two universities. :jocolor:

Sian across the road runs her own business repairing and renovating posh guitars and amplifiers and is also a qualified psychotherapist. She is super clever and currently single. :cool:

Oh she has trained me in her own little way.

When we first got together she cooked me a meal.

once I recovered, I never allowed her to cook again. It is too damm risky.

Her limit to cooking these days is phoning the local Indian for delivery
