Video test

Nothing too exciting, just off to the shops, found some water...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3cy3QThD18

Camera doesn't seem to like the vibes, seems to cut out at certain RPM or over particularly harsh surfaces...

Also need to find a way for the mic to pic up the exhaust note better as right now it sounds like a bag of spanners (no KTM jokes:p)

That and the format is a bit crappy

In fact, it's s***, don't bother watching:p

Smaller lanes begin at 3:15, first ford at ~6:30 - hasn't rained for weeks so they're only ~8-10" deep right now...

Yeh the video stutters a bit. What camera is it?
My camera doesn't record video on the bike at all any more. As soon as I rev the bike it just shuts down

Re: Video test

Cameras that use HDD or sometimes SD cards don't like heavy vibrations, it'll break the media, cards not so bad but a hdd is!

Also most new camcorders use a CMOS sensor which is awful at panning and vibrations because of an effect called rolling shutter, look on YouTube. The better action cameras use CCD's which don't suffer with it.

Mines a panasonic sd9, just need a better mount.

Camera is from 4kam, DVR is their DVR3 model, personally I wouldn't buy again, had problems with my order and the kit seems fragile, DVR frequently freezes and this camera stuff is annoying... That, and a mate who ordered a few weeks after me (must be back in May now) is still trying to resolve problems he's having with his stuff

No idea what the innards of the camera are, but today was the first time I got the DVR to record as AVI instead of the ASF file format, I also forgot to put the SD card in so it was recording on the internal memory, tomorrow I'll be doing some lanes so will record to the card and see if it performs any better...

Re: Video test

Format it records to will make no difference unless you've got the option between HDD and SD card, even that won't affect performance just less likely to get damaged or fail to record.

Re: Video test

Went out today with the camera strapped to the crash bar and the DVR recording on the SD card, video is smooth as the proverbial neonatal a*se, even though the crash bar vibrates like a, well, like a KTM:p

Will edit and upload this evening, got some nice footage of the lanes:cool:

It's not bad on the road but the offroad footage is very jittery and hard to watch.

Almost as if the surface wasn't smooth;)...

Unfortunately the raw footage is much better, but in order to get the files a reasonable size to upload (<100MB) they must be compressed, perhaps I'll try uploading an uncompressed file overnight and see if youtube manages to process it better...

That first lane is pretty tight anyway, and compression never does handle fst moving vegetation very well... Pt2 may be better in that respect:

Yeah, dunno why, I was in first gear (that's why I took so long to get going, I was stamping on the lever trying to work out if I was in 2nd or 3rd:confused:) - the 990 has a reputation of randomly stalling once in a blue moon for no reason but it could just be me being ham fisted, that first bit of the Bembridge Trail is a steep uphill with a crazy rut that'll have you off so I'm a bit on edge going up it...:p
