drying boots quickly.
OK FOLKS
ive been wearing in my new txc rs's and its going well. However this morning when pushing my bike through a deep puddle i remembered that they have this air flow thing in the sole just as i felt the water fill my boots :( sooo there wet inside, ive got newspaper in them but wouldnt mind them dry in the next couple of hours. What are my chances? and any tips? |

Re: drying boots quickly.
put them sole side down on the radiator, its the only real way but it wont be quick.
|
Re: drying boots quickly.
Also get some kind of silicone lube and put it on the torrosion system bits, other wise they will squeak every single time you even move a milimeter
|
Re: drying boots quickly.
Get a hairdryer in 'em.
|
Re: drying boots quickly.
Airing cupboard or something similar?
Get some cheap/mid-range boots for winter? |
Re: drying boots quickly.
Buy your self some Sealskin socks for the winter, totally waterproof, so you'll only need to dry the outside of the sock, not the boot
Expensive for socks but cheaper than another pair of boots. They are very good http://www.wiggle.co.uk/c/cycle/7/Socks_-_Waterproof/ |
Re: drying boots quickly.
Or buy some expensive TCX Competizione Goretex boots. Had mine for 18 months and they've never let a drop in....even after I wore the toes down on the track! http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../Image0026.jpg

Re: drying boots quickly.
Or simply put a plastic bag over your socks and wear the wet boots.

Re: drying boots quickly.
although I have sealskinz socks, I normally use Army Gortex boot liniers, they are cheap and effective, normally last about five winters or so.

Re: drying boots quickly.
I have a wardrobe in the shed where all of my riding kit is stored. It has extraction fans in the top and vents plus a low power heater element in the base which is not used often. At this time of the year my feet get soaked every day and my preference is heavy (>90%) wool socks.

Re: drying boots quickly.
plastic bag over sock
Then put newspapers inside the boot (will soak up the water) |

The point of that post was more about the drying method as per the thread subject line. When I pull my boots on I want them dry. A box with a good air flow, heated slightly (not hot) if temperatures are low, will dry boots quickly enough if the excess water is drained away. Cheers |
Re: drying boots quickly.
I see your point to an extent, but with today modern materials I would have thought the extremes were just what it was developed for ?
But you're right it's getting away from the OP question. I don't really suffer from this as these days not only do I use robust liners I have 4 pairs of boots to rotate should the need arise , however as far as drying goes, I've found any leather suffers if dried to quickly, my bathroom has underfloor heating through quite heavy tiles and is left on all year round, a side effect is a very gentle heat perfect for drying wet leathers and boots. Cheers Mark. |
