Tax Disc Holder

It appears that my tax disc holder on my K8 SV has gone missing, and taken with it the bolt screwing it into the usual place in the swing arm.
Could have been stolen, or maybe it just fell out when I rode over a speed bump.
Funny thing is, the tax disc in there wasn't current anyway :-k

Anyway, I can see a load of suitable holders online from various places, although if there's one that's obviously better than the rest then advice gratefully received.

But what sort of bolt do I need?
I couldn't see it listed in service manual style diagrams at any parts suppliers.
Some sort of standard M10 jobby?
Or is there a funky type bolt which might prove to be nice and tamper proof?

I have mine attatched to left hand subframe>frame bolt. Nice and neat. Or you could like spidey says just leave it in you wallet depends how often you leave your bike unnattended/run in with PITA coppers.

You could get a security bolt (star shaped allen key with a pin in the middle), not many would have a fitting allen key. I may have a spare one but I reckon all mine'll be too big for the sv.

I have seen a lovely Carbon and Aluminium one at work, but at twenty quid, it is a tad steep! As for bolts, don't they just go on with an M6 Dome head? Mine is fitted to the front fork, just above the brake calliper.

Mine's on the rear subframe bolt, bit of a PITA as it means you can't get to compression damping adjuster.

+1 on the wallet idea, lost one ages ago, since then always kept it in my wallet, the rain can't get to it either unlike those so called 'water proof' ones

I've got one of those bolted to my fork leg.

I also had one on my last enduro and never lost a tax disc even offroad.

All allen keys around the outside, thick alloy backing plate so it wont snap off and allen bolted to the fork leg.

Dont know what the problem the southeners have with losing tax discs is all about ;)

God knows why we still have to display one.
Surely they can work it all out from your number plate?

edit: Whats the point of nicking them?

Some people are so thick that they think displaying one they nicked from a bike will get them by  and I agree with you on the why do we have to display them farce.
