Christmas Number 1
Well, like 1000's of other people today, I've just popped onto Play.com to buy Rage Against the Machine's, "Killing in the name of" in the hope that it goes to number 1 for Christmas.
I love the tune and I hate the X Factor karaoke fare. Fingers crossed! Related reading: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref...8594104&ref=mf |
Re: Christmas Number 1

Re: Christmas Number 1

I look forward to VH1 next Christmas when they play the Christmas Hits compilation (if RATM actuall get to no.1)...and then there's the compilation CDs that shops play.....It's gonna be priceless! |
Re: Christmas Number 1
it'll never happen, too many brain dead chavs watch x factor
|
Re: Christmas Number 1
I am not a huge fan of the Simon Cowell hit parade. However, RATM will not happen. Nearly 1,000,000 members of a facebook group versus 16,000,000 viewers and Chavs.

Re: Christmas Number 1
what would be the point it's probably even the same record company getting the money won't lose out either way.
|
Re: Christmas Number 1
It will also be so heavily editted it's hardly worth it.
The song got a ridiculous amount of airtime in the clubs when it came out, purely because of the language used. It's not that good a track in my opinion, but then I did get it drummed into me every weekend for months - or even years in the rock clubs. |

Re: Christmas Number 1
Yea... Joe won... I must go out and buy that single. as I live in the North east 5 miles from the winner.........
arr. No, may be I won't... I'll get it on line... Arr. Maybe no... Congrats that you won... but I'll not be buying or downloading your single... I hope this helps your war in the Rage Against the Machine's, "Killing in the name of" ........ if not then, Meh.. The sun goes down on another day... one day older.. one day wiser. one day closer to death. one day less to care... |

FWIW I think the winner had an amazing voice but not my cup of tea at all...I hate the winner's single which I think it was engineered to suit Joe's voice. It didn't suit Olly at all because he is an upbeat and fun performer, but - he will be just fine (okay not an amazing vocalist though) I'm actually glad he hasn't got to put up with the pants winner's song and I think he will still do very well as he is very popular. Having said that I won't be going to see him because he isn't my cup of tea either. I just happen to appreciate the talents and efforts of fellow musicians :D |
Re: Christmas Number 1
Personally, I'm not sure and to me it makes little difference who is at number one as I never listen to the charts anyway. I would also hate to stop someone like Joe from getting to number one by buying a single I already own. As much as I dislike X-Factor, I hope the lad does well and goes far. Great voice but not my kind of music.

Re: Christmas Number 1
As mentioned earlier abut the same record company, RATM used to be on Epic records (I worked for them and so loved doing the marketing for RATM), but they have since been bught out by Cowell's record company so if you buy Killing... you give Cowell a nice fat Christmas bonus and I'm sure he's chuckling all the way to the bank. Better would have been to choose a song by a band on truly independent label but they are hard to find these days.

no they not, look at most metal bands, lol |

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Epic fail |
Re: Christmas Number 1
And when this whole thing happened with X factor and Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah last year. Exactly the same - both owned by Cowell.
But most indie labels are now ultimately owned by a larger label or publisher. Even the metal bands as it is just too expensive to do it any other way. |
Re: Christmas Number 1
Last year Alexandra only sold 576k copies of Hallelujah the week of the Christmas number 1.

Re: Christmas Number 1
Maybe these clowns should write their own ****ing tracks.

So Simon Cowell dug so deep he bought Sony Records BMG did he ? As far as I knew the last people to own Epic Records was Sony . Cowell actually sold his "SyCo" studios and record company to Columbia Records and Sony BMG so they own HIS studios and not the other way around . So Simon would not benefit from this record getting to number one , Only Sony benefit no matter what you do . |
Re: Christmas Number 1
Channel hopped the xfacter final.
Who the hell chose that song? It's dreadful... it might even be worse that that George Michael Xmas number they inflicted on people. |
Re: Christmas Number 1
Urgh, much as a would like to spoil Simon Cowell's best laid corporate plans, I can't think of a more overplayed and annoying alternative song! I purposefully boycott RATM now as it has become the X-factor of the metal club dance floor. Boooooo.
|
Re: Christmas Number 1
I bought it, Rage at number 2, gotto love it, got to get the bugger to number one though grrrrr!
X factor should DIE, money making racket that it is :( |

Its so american, it just makes me feel sick watching it. Oh and look at those two idiots that did pretty well... :( Sorry if im being offensive Arty, it just winds me up that people just seem to buy crappy music because it was on the TV... sigh. |
Re: Christmas Number 1

No offence taken  I certainly wouldn't buy it either! I thought the song was pants and was engineered specifically for the bloke who won and the other guy, Olly, didn't stand a chance - that annoyed me very much! PS it's nothing new - in the 60's many famous people shot to fame from Opportunity knocks and in the 70s/80s it was New Faces |
Re: Christmas Number 1
Bumping
Simon sounds ****ed off - more people need to buy RATM:D http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8413557.stm |

Woo hoo. Common people get this done! Id love to see this enterprise of money making crap come crashing down (for at least one year anyway ). |
Re: Christmas Number 1
Does anyone know what RATM have said on the matter or anyone related to them?
Has anything been said? |

This year I hardly watched. Uniformally mediocre. Lad that won has a good voice. Gives a reliably (the only person there who could) good performance & I can picture him on stage in the West End, Broadway etc. 'Bout as far as it goes though. :nomore: |
