SV650s K7 & Camping

Hi,

I've had a K7 fully faired SV650s for the past few months and love it. Last year I had a GSX750 and took it camping quite a lot. I'd like to do the same with my SV.

Only thing is, I can't work out how to attach a cargo net to the bike (essential for large bulky items). There doesn't seem to be any handy fixings to accomodate such a thing. :-k

I'll be after panniers too.. but kind of need the cargo net.

Any tips?

the cargo net can be hooped round the pillion pegs and there should be two metal rails underneath the tail of the bike with lugs on you can loop round too. Definitely had it on my SVs can't see them removing it for the k7.

as for panniers i found the oxford 'first' range fit far better than the more expensive Oxford ones - and they're the cheapest (makes a change eh!). used on 3 trips to Europe and i recommend them - HOWEVER the rain covers are rubbish and will tear/rip off at the earliest opportunity. just put stuff in bin liners etc....

I attach mine to the top box framework

[stands back and waits for heaps of abuse about having a top box]

Get some soft panniers then you can attach bungees, cargo nets etc to the panniers.

This is what I used for the annual ride out this summer. Think they were the cheapest Oxford panniers around.

Female = handbag full of wimmins junk = need for top box.

But I also borrowed a set of the Oxford ones and found ample space for all the essentials, such as hair straighteners and my teddy

That looks like quite a good setup.

Out of interest, do you have the black bars shown in the picture above?

I don't have those black bars either... but there are hooks on the pillion pegs which can be used. Can just about see one of them in this picture above the exhaust hanger bolt:

No black bars. I took my grab rail off a long time ago.

The bungees were all just attached to the pannier loops/hooks as it seemed the easist. The panniers were secured enough to take it all using the rear footrest hangers as two of the anchorage points.

Ahh. I see those hooks now. So that's what they are for!

Not as handy as the bars, but better than nothing :thumleft:
