After GMIII

How many others are planning to stay on for a few days and see a bit more of Scotland? :D

Still thinking of our options, but maybe across to Skye and on from there. Early days I know, but gives us all something to look forward to and bounce a few suggestions around.

Re: After GMIII

Silly question really Lissa :-D Skye sounds like a great plan, especially if we're lucky enough to get weather like that monday last year

Re: After GMIII

I'm almost certainly stopping on after to head further north, and hoping for more of that same sun too. No idea where to though yet, so I may have a go at a coastal tour.

Re: After GMIII

If things go to plan I'd like to stop on again. After all I'm only up there once a year so I better make the most of it. :D

Re: After GMIII

We're looking at booking a wigwam on Skye for a couple of nights, and using that as a base to explore a bit more. Applecross and North. Nice long hours of daylight to fill.:D

This is what we're thinking at the moment.

Last year was so good, I'd love to do it again. I mean just look at this, who wouldn't want to go there?

So I hope I'll be there. Depends on if a trip abroad happens really.

One thing I would suggest is the sunset in Ullapool-----the whole place goes pink

Re: After GMIII

Sounds like a similar plan as the one I had in mind, although its nothing like as organised as yours yet. I was going to try and extend the second day to Ullapool, with the aim of stopping right up in the far corner and seeing John o'Groats (having never been there). After that, try and head towards Edinburgh and down the east coast home.

Nice plan Lissa, did a Isle of Skye trip about 2 years ago:

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/9...cbikepics9.jpg

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/4...bikepics9a.jpg

Route looks great, although you could stay off the A9 and go this way:

http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2605/dsc2257i.jpg

Once you get to Blairgowrie and you still don't have enough, you could head towards Dunkeld/Crief:

So people are actually considering doing what Essex summer tour has been doing for the last 5years-----------ENJOY,if the weather is kind you will appreciate it even more, every bend and every rise brings something spectacular, rugged coastline or silver sand beaches, Golden Eagles and Sea Eagles, wild deer herds and keep a lookout for the otters. Take a bit of time just to look about.
Since we started doing similar I have a road atlas that I have highlighted with different colour markers for each year and there are very few roads we haven't been on------------but I will still be back in June.

Normally we have a European holiday each year, so haven't had either the time or money, but decided Europe isn't the bargain it normally is at the moment.

Enjoyed Skye and Applecross last year, so more than happy to go that way again.

Yes, it was set ages ago. :D

http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=142832

Because we wanted twin rooms we've committed early. If there's a change, we lose 10% deposit.

Worth it to get what we want, and for the peace of mind. We're sorted!

some nice routes Lissa, but may i suggest you take this route home on the last day..

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&so...,0.891953&z=11

coming down the A9 is mind numbingly boring. do the other route and stop off for fuel at the begining of braemar then go to the hungry highlander for lunch. i have marked it on the map.

oooooppppssss just noticed dizzy posted the route earlier....

Me and Wendy have taken the following week off work. We'll spending the Fri, Sat & Sun at the GMIII venue, then going east to Dundee for 4 nights of luxury here http://www.piperdam.com/lodge-muirloch-executive.cfm. Hot-tub, sauna & a big comfy bed. We'll spend the days exploring the roads North of Dundee and spend the evenings $%&*&£$ in the hot-tub.

We've sort of done that the last two years, stayed till the tuesday. Always depends on the money and weather situation though.
