Moby trouble...

Does anyone know why my mobile should randomly stop receiving texts and phone calls? It's done it before once a few weeks ago, didn't get a peep for 5 days then suddenly a barrage of texts and voicemails came through....phone's been on the whole time but if it's becoming a habit then it's a really flippin' annoying one!

P.S. Am with O2, could it just be a network thing?

Maybe it's just messing with your head. Have you been dropping it a lot?

I would just get a new one on insurance, if you've got it?

Yeah I was actually bein (kinda)serious my nokia (also on o2 ...hmmm) does it from time to time (infact so does my orange one) just needs turniong off for a few minutes and it'll leave me alone for another few months.

The nokia used to do it a lot more but it needed a firmware upgrade.

Re: Moby trouble...

remove sim-card for a few minutes let it lose its charge and pop back in the phone,
This will disconnect you from the network.

I have the same trouble on O2. Got a text yesterday to say I had seven voicemails. I had been sat at my desk all day and made several phone calls. The phone hadn't rung once! I also have Samsung Omnia Pro (PDA) with Windows Mobile operating system as my phone, so I never know whether to blame phone or network.

I'm on 02 and never have a problem.

Just sent you a text Maria, but according to delivery reports you've not received it yet.

While your phone is still switched on, take the battery out and leave it out for about 20 minutes. It doesn't matter about the sim card, that can stay :)

If that doesn't work, try doing a manual network select on the phone. If that STILL doesn't work, call 02 and ask for a coverage check to see if there have been any issues with the masts in your area. It may be down to coverage or congestion on the network over the last few days...

Hope that helps. :)

Hmmm manual appears to already selected, could that be why it's gone off in the first place? looks like I'm going to be having a little word with O2 in the morning..

Neeja 21-01-10 10:21 AM

Re: Moby trouble...

He means to manually select your network. If you go onto the network selection screen, you should be able to search for all available networks in your area. Select one that ISN'T O2 (So Orange, 3, Vodafone etc.), and let your phone try to connect to it.

Your phone will then switch to emergency calls only, or simply tell you the operation is restricted. Then go back into a manual search and select O2 again. Doing this updates your phone on the network, which is basically synchronizing it with all the computer gadgetry network-side to allow it to route things correctly to your phone.

As to the person suggesting just getting a new phone on your insurance...not advisable for something like this, as if anything it would be a warranty fault, and people like me exist to prevent people making dodgy mobile phone claims ;)

Neeja and Chris thankyou!!! Just tried your method Neeja and it's worked, I am in touch with the world once more :-D

Getting loads of texts now, hope this happens more often, makes me feel popular a rarity indeed haha
