Re: Farmyard Party
its a mental rally defo worth a go if you aint done it before, bear in mind its one of the more expensive ones once your in
|
Re: Farmyard Party
Who cares about cost, its a weekend of beer and bikes :) and my boss is telling me to go .... bonus ! ha ha ha
Sounds a great laff. Have you done one Dave? a Farmyard rally that is ;) |
Re: Farmyard Party
ohhhh yes great crack some really decent people may venture down again meself date depending, one thing to be aware of for the uninitaiated (sp) there is some black patch b0llocks that goes on but it easy to avoid and genrally kept in check, ive had nothing but good times when there but tbh its not the best rally that would be
perverts in leather or P.I.L rally now that is absolutly f ing crazy a must go to (abite with open mind) but without question the most fun, beer fueled, laugh ive had in years, and its on your doorstep |
Re: Farmyard Party
Was exciting just after the 2005 event - as they were clearing up the heavens opened and ab inland tsunami wrecked the site. A couple of hogs ( not the lightest bikes on the planet ) were never found. If anyone's going, I'm only 15 miles away.

Re: Farmyard Party
I might be tempted into going up this year... its on the things to do list. Just hope I can avoid getting roped into marshalling, because I'm sure it'd be mentioned if I brought it up at the group meet
|
Re: Farmyard Party
I've not been to a single rally that has been rubbish. Plenty of bands, loads of beer, plenty of dodgy burgers, although the last PIL and Wozwolf had some great alternatives.....and both had shower and proper toilets :-)
Best things are the silly games they have mid afternoon on a Saturday. Beardy hungover/drunk people having a laugh doing organised silly games, while equally drunk spectators get sunburnt. Mind you haven't been to any in around four years, cause the time is spent on org events instead! Reckon you might enjoy it Shell, just don't tell anyone its your first rally;-) Nobody ever admits to that, as there are consequences, which usually involves a very messy initiation ceremony! |
Re: Farmyard Party
Don't think you get that sort of thing at the farmyard, but from the same experience, I wouldn't admit to being a first-timer at a rally... at the least, you're going to be dragged into all of the silly games and indulging in bakery (well... eggs and flour are involved)
|
Re: Farmyard Party
Actually I quite like the sound of that - but I think it's the same weekend as the MotoGP at Silverstone, in which case I'll be at the racing instead unfortunately. Maybe another one though?

Re: Farmyard Party
In the good old days most of the ticket/gate money was given to a chosen charity. Seem to recall the last PIL one I went to gave to Derbyshire Air Ambulance, such a great bunch these bikers are :-) I'd presume rallies still carry on this tradition.

Re: Farmyard Party
ok this is worrying as i was at the last pil rally and i was doing the silly games
dizzy my god i think youve seen me naked arrrggggggghhhhhhhh |
Re: Farmyard Party
ps myc got the pics somehow
|
Re: Farmyard Party
DAve the last PIL rally I went to was in 2003 ish. Don't worry my eyes are safe ;-)
|
Re: Farmyard Party
Most of the rallies I've been to try to give something to a worthy cause with how much depending on the scale of the event. The Farmyard rally (and the other 4 that surround it that I can't remember the names of) are fundraisers for MAG, although they usually manage to give something to other charities as well.
Having read the above, I am kinda glad that PIL hasn't been on my visitation list so far though. |
Re: Farmyard Party
PIL...you can't really be one to be a bit shy there. They do state that its an adult orientated event on the web page. Funnily enough though its so popular that they have a waiting list in reserve just in case anyone can't make it, can sell their tickets back and someone else can go instead!

Re: Farmyard Party
Without getting into club histories and such, what Dave meant was about how certain clubs (with their patches displayed prominently on the back) act like the dodgiest of dodgy landlords and wanting their cut of everything in their area, irrespective of whether they did anything to earn it.
This is the main reason why you would see "No back patches" on flyers for some events. IMHO, they're just a waste of space with a bad attitude, but we're stuck with them at present. |
Re: Farmyard Party
Backpatch stuff is a load a c0cknbull in rallies. Sat amongst them on many occasion, they are after all people. Drinking beer and having a good time.
Been to a few with more than one select group attending, but they usually find their own area and play bridge or something ;-) Nowt to be afraid of, just stare back at em meaner lol! |
Re: Farmyard Party
So OK who is going ..... my boss is giving me grief so I am

Re: Farmyard Party
Knowing my luck, the 25th of June, but still - my intention is to do like you and amarko did last year, so I suspect I'm going to need all the pennies I can get

Re: Farmyard Party
Just thought I'd give this a bit of a bump as the flyer was handed round at the local MAG meet at the weekend. I've also received another piece of info for anyone who has an interesting talent that they would like to share. The organisers intend to run a talent show in the same vein as Britains Got Talent. Anyone fancying info, drop me a PM and I'll pass further details on.
