money saving tip?

Anyone with southern electric/gas? recently i had a huge gas/lekkie bill so today i rang them to pay off some of my debt I'd run up :(
after abit of moaning on the dog and bone the kind lady said "have you tryed a quote on our "Go Direct 3 tariff" ehhh whats that i replied?
Its their cheapest energy tariff - she ran a quote for me based on what id used over my last billing period and guess what?
my gas used was £311.31 she dropped that to £233.32
my lekkie used was £349.62 she dropped that to £259.62
saving (if i was on that go direct tariff) £170!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This new tariff is only advertized on their web site so you have to go look for it.
just thought this might be worth a mention.

But if it's -12C then 'wear another jumper' isn't really helpful.

I'm with scottish power. I decided this month to do some saving.

I used to pay 59.50 for gas and electric, then for 2 month I left the boiler on 24hrs and it jumped upto 97.50 and stayed there for 2 years.

This month a rang around and British gas could do me dual fuel for 61 a month. So after getting the best qoutes I rang Scottish power and they said I was on the wrong tarif and could get me down to 60 a month. So £37 saving.

I also rand sky to cancel and ended up with sky+HD for the same price as I pay now.

Swapped from Scottish Power to British Gas this month. Was paying something stupid for combined. Now paying £70 per month for both gas and leccy.

Also got a cheque for £111 from Scottish power rebate on my gas usage.

Plus I'll get £40 cashback for swapping to BG.

Go to moneysavingexpert.com and use their utilities checker for the best comparrison of what you're paying

The hot water is cold by 9am though or loot warm so we are always putting it on continuous to get the water hot for baths/showers so thats not helping.
