nt means that the only text of relevance is in the title and you still didnt say what satnav you used and why.

I'm not impressed either, sorry.

It doesn't impress people when your just trying to be a knob.

Im not trying to be a knob. it was supposed to stop people from needing to look any further. If youve nothing constructive to say you dont need to before you try an insult me.

Yes, that's the one.

Market research? Looking for a recommendation? Donned an anorak and developed an interest in cataloguing makes and models of sat nav? ;)

Garmin Zumo 550, waterproof and easy to use in gloves.

Garmin Zumo 400---does all the same as the 550 but without the voice prompts and as I don't like wires or have a bluetooth helmet it fits the bill at 1/2 the price.
Zumo's have a fairly long battery life if not connected compared to other brands which is handy for the odd occasion that I may use it in the car.

I use an old pda with tomtom on it.

It stays under my seat so I cannot see it. no routes defined, simply plugged into the autocom to alert me if near camera sites.

Re: What satnav do you use and why? no text

I use AA route planner, a bit of paper and a biro.
Not very handy in the wet and if you dont keep pulling over to check your route/directions its pretty useless.

+1, which I bought for the grand sum of £79 at Halfrauds the other day.

Haven't used it yet.

I've got a Myguide 3218we for the car, but I swapped the software to Navigon software which is better than the Turbodog which was the OEM

I've got TomTom software on my Smartphone but it's well out of date by now I think

I've got an upgraded version of Matts system - the maps are waterproof and I use a highlighter pen :p

Half the fun of a ride can be in getting lost, anyway.

Mavicap---If you go onto a site "TELFORISER"[I think thats how you spell it and I don't have the link] they do really excellent mountings for whichever bike you have, reasonable price and terrific service.
I was not impressed with the fitting ideas in the kit so I used the front tank screw fitting from the site and ran the power feed inside the frame to the battery[Fused]
No intrusive wiring on display.

DT you mean http://telferizer.com/ . Thanks, I agree with you the standard mount isn't very good and I was going to get one fairly soon.

Have you got a picture of your mount is positioned? I was going to buy the one that mounts in the top yoke nut.

No rush

A map! Satnavs are for Girls...and Jambo!

I downloaded Wisepilot for my phone the other day because it was free. I tried Nav4All but thats gone down the tubes now.

I have a theory that if everyone used the same satnav everyone would use the same roads, freeing up the back routes for people with maps and a sense of direction :)

Zumo 660. Love it, but mainly because I have 16GB of music on it, and i can change tunes etc on the go. Also lets me take / make calls via my autocom headset

Re: What satnav do you use and why? no text

Navi-go which was given to me free by a work colleague (about £50 in shops), it has a earphone socket which I plug some noise cancelling earphones in (£10), these not only protect my hearing but help me listen to the directions and finally this slips into the map pocket of my tank bag (£20).

You can also buy proper satnav cases which mount on the bars (£35) and also battery extenders which give you approximately another 10 hours of satnav life on top of the satnavs own battery (£25).

So about £120 for a satnav that can be used both on the bike and in the car.

Wisepilot is free? Where do I get it? I used Nav4All on my phone as well because my wife kept running off with the sat nav. I'd love to find another free one that does turn by turn navigation. Even better if it doesn't download routes from the web as you never have a decent data signal when you need it most, although cost of data is not an issue as my work pays the bill. Don't want to pay a subscription either.

If I can't find an alternative I'm going to buy copilot.

Maviczap---mine is on a Sprint ST using the bolt on the front of the tank
I am sure using your suggestion would be just as good but will it not move when you steer? not so much a visual problem but possible chaffe the power wire.
