Fixed it!

Yeah, you laughed non stop!

The petrol station was a bit of a blast from the past! I expected the cans of coke to be labelled at 25p, and it's a long time since I've seen a free-standing cigarette rack.

No point coming over here, there's no bloody BOAT's (not that we can find anyway)! There was a West Midlands TRF meeting on tonight, but I couldn't go, I'm going to go in a fortnight's time and see what the craic is.

We'll come over to you, there seems to be a little network of them between Canon's Ashby and Weedon Lois, which is where I went last time.

The BOAT in the pic's was very short so we just went back and forth about six times, getting faster each time, but it was a lot firmer ground so easier to ride on.

The BOAT at Weedon Lois was basically a like ploughed field, won't try that again until the weather has broken a bit.

Canon's Ashby and Weedon Loistrails are just up the road from me :)

Theres quite a network round there basically one big triangle.

Another good area round this way is over by santa pod.

I did wonder how close we were and almost suggested that, but I didn't want to drop in unannounced!

(we rather stupidly didn't take a map, only sat nav, so couldn't see the wider picture)

Re: Specialone pop's his 'laning cherry!

Just found another little network by Cold Ashby, certainly more of them in Northamptonshire than over this way.

Cor, and there's me thinking Altz,s had got the better of me. Where you took the photo, from the bend in the road, I used to go past it twice a day for 30yrs. When I was riding trials in the early 70s used it for practice as there used to be a wood with a stream in half way along, lovely and slimey.

Yep, that looks good too, and if you follow the map North East towards Yelden it looks like you could plot a route and spend a day at it.

Oh well, what didn't you suggest that before? Since mine is broken, I had to do it with a brush and a hose! ;)

I will copy your number off my PM's onto my mobile and I promise I won't pass the door again without phoning to see if the kettle is on. :D

I'd tried the hose and it wasnt shifting the crap, so had to result to the jetwash, jetwashed my boots and textile bottoms as well :)

I've got most of them marked out on my maps already, got some pretty decent routes too :)

If you guys want to head over this way, I'm sure we can sort something out.

Mr VT has got a bike too if hes sorted it out and allowed to come and play so could make up a nice size group.

Cheers Rob, Hopefully i'll get better at it, but until 2 days ago i hadnt rode a dirt bike in something like 18 years so i think i didnt do too bad.
Need to adjust clutch / cable as it has hardly any travel, so difficult to control bike on the clutch, something vital i think when green laning.

Found this today, a ford which is still used by farmers and tractors.
I used to go paddling here as a kid along with hundreds of others in the summer months.
I might have attempt it on the DRZ once ralph has gone through and found a good path ;)
Its not that deep tbh, most places less than 8 inch deep.

Yes detective john icanopit, you got it right again ;)
You're getting good at this :)
Yes, packington, seems more water there than i remember, went there last about 20 years ago.
Deserted tbh so didnt want to attempt a ride through the water just in case i fell off and no one around to help (thats my excuse anyway)

Hav'nt been there for over 30yrs, have kept away since we were threatened by the police and the Estate for practicing in the river and up the banks, mind you 3 semi-pro trials riders 3/4 days a week I suppose was unacceptable.
Hence the reason for my "Poirot" ability, did'nt miss much pratice grounds in those days.

I'll go through, but it'll need to be on your bike! ;)

Mine doesn't like water at the mo, need to make a rubber cap for the plug and get some silicone goop in there, and I need to either T off or re-route the carb breathers.

I might just re-route mine.
Next time your over this way i'll show you this ford, see what you think, tbh i dont think it will come up to the wheel nuts in most places less than that.
I have some marine grease you can use but its white.

+1 (not that it stops me taking the VFR down inapropriate roads but the ones with deep ruts tends to bottom out the fairing). ;)

I'm thinking about SORNing my enduro due to lack of time at the moment.

If you guys decide to head out over this way for the day, let me know and I'll sort out the tax.

You tell us Rob we'll come over.
Col has gone through loads of map area and found places of possible interest which we are gonna check out in the next 2 weeks or so.

Re: Specialone pop's his 'laning cherry!

Hey Rob, I sat 'til 3am the other morning searching Warwickshire on that Trailwise site you sent me, 3km at a time (long process!).

Contrary to my previous research on the web, it seems there are unsurfaced lanes we can ride on that are not BOAT's. So I found a list of about 6 different sets of lanes over this way, in a line Eastwards from Worcester to Southam, that according to that website we can use.

Specialone and I are going to check them out when we get the time, you'd be welcome to join us. It seems that there are unsurfaced roads that are shown on the OS map as "other routes with public access", that we can legally use.

I documented them all in Word so I could print them out, if you PM me your email address, I'll send you them all in PDF.

I thought you would have known that it's not just BOATs you can use ;)

Old Git sold me a towball for the car so I can transport the bike again so let me know when your going and I'll pop over.

My mate Marcus lives on the ridgeway, about 20 minutes from salisbury plain too if you guys want to head off out with us sometime.

No, honestly I didn't. I did a load of research on it on the web, because I enjoyed my Mexico stuff so much, but I was still living in Scotland where apparently there are next to no BOAT's, and the websites I was reading suggested this was all we could ride that that there was practically NO legal greenlaning in Scotland. So I concluded that there was no point in me buying an off road bike. I even joined off road forums and asked questions there, the answers concurred.

When I moved down here, and the SV was off the road so withdrawl symptoms dictated that I needed a winter hack and off-road bike I bought the XT600, thinking there were plenty of BOAT's I could ride in the Peak District and Wales.
