Morocco
So, in keeping with my "enjoy today for tomorrow you could die" ethos it seems I've signed myself up for a bikey trip to Morocco
The bikes leave a week tomorrow to get trucked down to Malaga, we fly down three weeks today to meet them and begin 18 days of on/off road riding... We're following the same route as these guys, riding down from the north of the country, up and over the Atlas mountain range to a big loop in the Sahara desert and back through the mountains Final preparations happen to the bike tomorrow, new sprockets dropping a tooth on the front and getting everything packed up to go with the bike, new rear tyre goes on on Sunday and we're ship shape Starting to get that gut feeling again, reckon it's gonna be a good'un... Anyone been before? Any advice? |

All the Moroccans I met were really warm and friendly people.

Morocco is cool, and you'll loose track for the number of times you get offered hash-hish.
If you get near a city, watch out for the mobylettes - they are just mental. |
Re: Morocco
Oh wow! Carpe diem indeed!
Sounds like a whole lot of fun. I'm off on a similar trip soon too. Enjoy. You'll love Morocco. |

Well the bikes are off today
New sprockets with lower gearing - Check New Rear Tyre, extra knobbly - Check New front discs - Check New front pads - ... Oh wait a minute... Guess I'll fit them later today where we're all dropping the bikes off to be shipped:-dd http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/DSC_0371.jpg http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/DSC_0373.jpg Getting excited now... |
Re: Morocco
Good luck, mate. Looks like great fun.
Hope you've been dropping your bike on your drive to practice picking it up!! (Saw lots of that on that link you posted!!);) |
Re: Morocco
Well that was interesting...
First off, the new gearing makes anything more than a brisk getaway in 1st gear a wheelie, even on only a whiff of throttle with the kit on the back, it smooths out all the low speed jerkiness and even gives more pleasant rev:road speed ratios in 30/40 limits - totally changes the character of the bike for the better Secondly, the guy who had my pads was given rears by the dealer, so it looks like I'm changing them in the Malaga car park after all:rolleyes: Then the icing on the cake - the guy who's transporting the bikes somehow manages to get a strap caught round the head of one of the fuel taps and pings it off, cue ~5l of unleaded filling the bottom of his trailer!! Thankfully the taps you fit to store water in the panniers are the exact same ones they use on the fuel tanks so we had a spare, quick bit of work in the car park and she's ready to rock Guess that's why they call it an "Adventure" Oh, and as for picking it up, I had lots of practice in Thetford the other weekend, still can't ride in soft sand, but we'll see how I fair in the Sahara... |
