Re: Goodbye SV :(
very nice mate, something i was considering at the same time as the 750, have to let me know how you get on as me and my bor are considering buying another bike together and this is one we are looking at.
how much did you get it for if you dont mind me asking? |
Re: Goodbye SV :(
Nice one!
|
Re: Goodbye SV :(
Picked the blade up today, had a steady bimble back. Found it so easy to ride, suspension is a little firm for bumpy B roads but I am sure I can adjust it.
The power is awesome, it pulls in any gear from any revs, only used 4th and 5th really. Hope to go for a proper ride in the week sometime |
Re: Goodbye SV :(

Re: Goodbye SV :(
I know but even with that bazooka on it still sounds nice.
|
Re: Goodbye SV :(
Nah... leave the original can on....I like them left as standard! Looks awesome by the way L3nny. Dans is filthy at the moment as he had to take me to get my CG125 on Friday in the rain, then did the rideout yesterday...it'll get a wash in about, oooh, 5 months just before the AR...lol

Re: Goodbye SV :(
The dealer gave it a full valet before I picked it up, I had to get a photo straight away as It will probably not be that clean ever again
|
Re: Goodbye SV :(
The front calipers look exceptionally clean...for some reason, the bolts in them are what I look at first!
|
Re: Goodbye SV :(
I am tempted just to leave it standard, even keep the humungus snow shovel on the back.
The only mod it has on there are some heated grips and they don't even work |
Re: Goodbye SV :(
It's the standard ones that always keep the value better and it's the sae when buying a 4x4 for off roading. Most people prefer to buy something standard and do their own mods as you just never know the quality of workmanship that has been done when things have been played with. When I bought Stretchies Blade, the ones with after market cans, tail tidies and mini indicators were all advertised for less than the standard bikes.
|
Re: Goodbye SV :(
The only mods I would do are a DB screen end can and tail tidy. The screen and can can easily be swapped back if I want to sell and no-one is going to complain about this monster snow shovel being taken off. I noticed your's is a bit smaller, maybe the 2001 models had a different one fitted

Re: Goodbye SV :(
That actually doesn't look standard......the Blade Dan binned in 2008 was a 2000 model and that didn't have one that big. Bikes are easy in the sense that you can keep everything for resale purposes I guess, so yeah...mods are less of an issue. I've known Land Rovers be bought for £2k, have £4k worth of off road mods, suspension lifts, snorkels, winch bumper and winches, heavy duty towbars, heavy duty steering rods, high lift jack and jacking points etc........and not seel for any more than the original £2k. Every now and then, you'll get someone that will pay the extra....but not very often, so with Landies......you're better off buying them to keep and run and run and run and run......like we do :-)

Re: Goodbye SV :(
Leave it as it is, and use the £100's and £100's you would spend buying exhausts, plastic bits and all that other crap (if you buy even ONE coloured fairing bolt for it I will come and END YOU) use it all on fuel instead and tyres instead.

Re: Goodbye SV :(
DB screen is worthwhile if you're going to ride like a nutter, the SRAD has one and it is very weird to be doing 150mph with no noticeable wind. Especially compared to doing the same on a naked!

I had a db screen (MRA) on the SV and all it did was divert the wind from my chest to my neck meaning it all went up my helmet making for a very noisy ride. Are Airblade ones any good? |
Re: Goodbye SV :(
Well due to the perfect weather I have done about 600 miles on the blade this week. I absolutely 100% love it to bits.
I had a few hairy moments on it with the front wheel bouncing around but a few tweaks on the suspension and choosing a higher gear than I would have done for the SV seems to have sorted this out. Compared to the SV the handling is amazing. I am not a great rider, only had just over a year's experience but on the SV I was very nervous, I hated the way the front would dive everytime you rolled off the throttle and there didn't seem to be much feedback. On the Blade it's so much more settled. Going round bends is so easy, you just look at the exit of the bend and your round it. I think my riding has improved more with 600 miles on the blade than it did with 6000 miles on the SV. I have fitted a Remus Revolution can on as well which even unbaffled is pretty quiet but it looks at lot better than the bazooka it came with. |
