"bigoted woman"

Gordon Brown get's into his car after meeting a woman on a walkabout and tells his staff that she was a "bigoted woman", best bit was that he still had a mic on. So all he news crews heard it and recorded it.
LMFAO!

Re: "bigoted woman"

Well before we hang him, it would be worth knowing what was said between them. She may well have bigoted views of eastern europeans. His comment was made (he thought) in private and we have all said similar about folks whose views we do not agree with.

My beef would be if she made valid points but he brushes them aside as 'bigoted' because they don't coincide with his view.

Have you seen the image on the video link? Talk about kicking the R's out of it. She looks really hard done to like someone went over, kicked her to the floor and stole her bag not like some one just said "What a pain in the R's she was*"

* :-$ Before you start with the "But that's not what he said " that was not a direct quote but it gives you the idea of what was said

His job is to look after the views and gaint he support of the people, not to be branding them biggots.

Re: "bigoted woman"

Aye hes trying to gain voters and it shows what a 2 faced git he is. Whats funny is the woman in question was happy with his answer to her question and "was" a labour voter. Therefore calling her a bigot was way off course and not in line with say calling her a miserable cow. Whats even funnier is Rochdale is a labour town (i know i live here and see all the support labour posters in the windows) so he couldnt have wanted for a friendlier town. If you cant even stand your core voters then you dont deserve power. It also proves what a london fatcat leech he is when he cant see his core support is from the northerner working class!

Again what a **** he is!

I quite enjoy criticising Gordoom Brown, and of course there's no shortage of excellent reasons to do so, but this may not be one of them.

The Times has a transcript of the conversation. Having read them, I don't think that his comments were really justified.

I've just heard the full interview and response on the radio. Now I have a radar turned into bogottry and will happily accuse someone of the same and try to enlighten them

However I have to say on this occasion the woman was very reasonable and was only expressing a mild and reasonable question about why many eastern Europeans are here. She was NOT a bigot IMO.
Forget 'in private' explanations, or unethical, off the record guff.
We now have a clear sight of the man's true thoughts about the people who are living and working in this country and who used to vote Labour.

This has made my day.

Very true.

I find it hilarious that he's apologised so "that's okay" Apologising when caught doesn't change your attitudes...

It gets funnier everytime I see it on the news. Channel 4 coverage was excellent, especially as they filmed the woman listening to the recording in the TV van :D

Re: "bigoted woman"

As the guy from the daily mail just said, the eye opening thing is how 1 min before he was having a nice conversation with the woman and left on good terms, then 1 min later, hated her and meant something else.
So what else is he lying about, how could anyone trust anything he says when minutes later says something else, its just lip service, says whatever he thinks we wanna hear but thinks (and says) the opposite.

He has to be the most unpopular PM ever not to be voted in

Just saw the video of it being played to him live during his radio 2 interview with JV, he went grey and shrunk about 6 inches (height and elsewhere I should imagine).

He should count his blessings he didn't say anything worse.

How great it would be if we could hear more of these 'closed door' insults and see which leader has got the most venom.

Re: "bigoted woman"

Personally I think he was right.

She didnt pay a blind bit of notice to what he was saying, talk of "they" (immigrants) as if they're something she trod in.

We all say things in private we dont want other people to hear, he's no different. And to spout crap like "oh he shouldn't think like that as Prime Minister" need to take their heads out of their arses.

Im sure EVERYBODY will disagree with me on this, as nobody wants to have their jobs taken by people prepared to work harder for less

Ed 29-04-10 10:44 AM

Re: "bigoted woman"

Keith, the subject of immigration has been taboo for a long time because everyone thinks they'll be accused of being racist.

I think that Mrs Duffy has every right to express her concerns, and then to say that she is 'bigoted' is not fair. Isn't it the politician's job to explain where he is coming from, and to explain why his policies are appropriate? He plainly didn't succeed - so then attributed the blame for his failure to communicate to Mrs Duffy, by describing her as 'bigoted'. No she isn't bigoted, she is only saying what many people think, and if Mr Brown failed to persuade her that his polices on immigration are appropriate then he has only himself to blame.

keithd 29-04-10 10:48 AM

Re: "bigoted woman"

But Ed she clearly wasnt listening to him

And if she's saying what many people think then maybe they are bigots too?

You're right the immigration card is taboo and people are seen as racist, again probably cos they are deep down
