Men? Could you ride a pink one?

Browsing for a bike on ebay, (won't post the link as it's not my bike) and someone fairly local to me has a Pink SV for sale. Clearly been some young ladies pride and joy.

Now, it could be the right price, the right area, the right shape, and the right mileage, and tbh, I'm not that fussed about pink as a colour. Indeed, contrast with black and I like it as a look.

But does the colour add or detract from the bike in your view? Does it narrow it down to a largely women only market segment?

And would I look a total loon on it?

A man that bats for the other team could ride this. anyone else will feel like a **** within 5mins of riding this and the reality has sunk in that your riding a pink bike.

And telling your friends that its salmon and not pink will not make things any better.

I prefer the term "custom fade" :p
pink is a true mans colour **gets ready to be flamed** lol

But in all seriousnous, i agree, it would sink in after 5 mins and then youd probobly feel rather daft. But if you want it, i shant judge. . .

Much :D

Re: Men? Could you ride a pink one?

Well im a girl and I wouldn't want a pink bike!!

But if it was black and pink - being more black than pink then I probably wouldn't mind, if it was a dark pink not a sicky barbie girl pink!

Hey but if it goes cheap enough buy it anyway - you can always get it resprayed! ;)

Re: Men? Could you ride a pink one?

Only someone insecure about their sexuality would let a little thing like pink paint put them off the right bike..

;)

Re: Men? Could you ride a pink one?

Just seen the bike - had to go have a nosey! :D Its not a bad pink really, Not sure if I could live with it TBH but I think a nice black design on it to make it pink and black would be good, dunno what design cause im not very arty like that - but Im sure someone could come up with a decent paint design??

For the price and mileage etc etc it looks a cracking bike - I would be very tempted to get it and just get it re-sprayed!

Re: Men? Could you ride a pink one?

A barbie pink VRaptor that was recently sold, was bought by a bloke. It didn't last long before it was professionally resprayed bat black.

It was hideous. I could never do that to an SV or to any bike for that matter.

Juju 24-05-10 07:28 PM

Re: Men? Could you ride a pink one?

See, the thing is, I quite like it........ But the SV is known as a bike popular with the girls anyway, and I canjust image the disappointment everytime I park up and remove my helmet and break the hearts of all those big hairy bikers thinking a single female biker has just turned up......

Or am I being old fashioned, and there are lots of KTM's, Fireblades and other manly bikes that come in pink that I am unaware of?

I think something arty with black stripes would help........

Still, is less likely to be stolen isn't it?

Re: Men? Could you ride a pink one?

Personally, I don't think I'd ride a pink bike. Just not my bag.

On a serious note, I'm pretty suspicious of bikes/cars that have had paintwork. I.e Has it been involved in an accident etc etc.

But as long as the frame and important bits are OK and it's at the right price, then why not buy it and respray it a different colour?

This is down to personal taste (and self respect!)

:)

Yeah, but KTM riders are so manly that the pink barely makes a dent in the manliness, so they have to wear a tutu and teddy bear bum bag as well:

lol but why?? If it goes for that price - then I think its well worth it - ignore the colour for now and its a great little bike - very very low miles for its age and looks like it has been well looked after... I actually think its a decent pink (dark pink not like that ktm lol)

Just get it re-sprayed - viola decent cheap bike!! ;)

Its a better pink than i was expecting, but not a fan tbh. However it is a good price, and seems looked after. If its what you want, then its what you want.

Re: Men? Could you ride a pink one?

Pair of black racing stripes down the centreline and that'd be awesome...

I'd ride it:cool:

Re: Men? Could you ride a pink one?

It looks okay, but as said before... it's still pink
You'll certainly have some weird looking people when you'll take your helmet off
And I think it'll always be a good subject to start a joke, or to bring something up against you in a discussion...

I do sometimes wear a pink shirt... but riding a pink bike... oh no

Could I ride a pink one?

Is that a big pink one, or a tight pink one?

Let me think about that for a second

Re: Men? Could you ride a pink one?

I think its ok-ish, not a light powder pink, but not as nice as candy pink either.
I`m normally more suspicious when something has had a colour change, but because its pink it will put some folk off so should go cheap, in which case i`d buy it, probably use it for a while then change the colour, either back to original depending on what that was, or, a nice pearl purple :)

Not my cuppa tea, but then I'm not the one buying it.

Sounds like you have half way made up your mind anyway!

Look at it another way, if you want an SV in a non-original colour its a good place to start for a respray...

And there it is :-)

If it's the perfect bike, but not the perfect colour, buy the bike, change the colour!
