Seat and Ar*e ache

Has anyone got any experience of Sargent seats? Are they any good?

I have a OEM gel seat and was just wondering if one of these would be better?

Sargent have more of an American following much like Corbin do as well , might be better off doing a Google search and see what they say on the USA forums

I used to have an OEM gel seat but then got a Sargeant seat off fleabay.
In my opinion it is more comfortable than the OEM seat - the OEM seat seemed to slope down to the tank too much, whereas the Sargeant has a flatter profile.
I still suffer from some aches and numbness but I think part of this is the riding position on the SV. Another option would be the Bagster seats but I think they are very expensive.

I threw an SV1000 seat on as it was harder and lowered my pegs , helped reduce but not eradicate soreness .

How did you lower your pegs?

Bought some rearset riser plates and flipped them upside down , you can also fit some Buell footpegs which will drop the position down by an inch

I get quite alot of **** ache with the standard seat, but your saying the gel seat doesnt help the problem that much?

Re: Seat and Ar*e ache

It helps, but doesn't resolve the problem. To be fair the Gel seat is loads better, but I was just wondering if a sargent will make the problem totally vanish!

Ok, kl cheers for the advice, tbh most of the other alternatives do seem rather expensive unless found on ebay

Yeah I know, that's why I am reluctant to keep throwing money at it if the difference is only marginal!

I've got some of these footpegs to lower the footrest position, as because I'm getting older its more & more difficult to put up with the standard footrest position.

If I was to do a track day, I can change the position quickly with an allen key

I was just about to buy a set of these from sport touring, then I noticed the thread about fitting buell foot pegs. So I have ordered a set of them to try.

Perhaps its all in the riding position,I find it bearable for 6 + hrs, did 8 + last week

How long have you riden it for now? Your body will adjust to a bike with a bit of time on it...you seem to be chucking money at it!!! ;)

I have done roughly 12K miles and still get the numb issue on the Mway trips

I have a Sargent seat and on my curvy and I love it!!!!!
Way more comfortable than stock and doesn't feel like you're sitting in a bucket like the corbin seat for the curvy.

Get one, you won't regret it.
400 mile days are no problem.
