Marks on tank - why and what can I do about it?
Hi, just done 300 plus miles on my shiney Nebular Black SV and already there are white marks on the side of the tank where I have been holding with my knees. :(
What do others use to stop this? Or is it just me hanging on too tight? Had a quick look on ebay and seen something called a StompGrip! anybody using these? |
Re: Tank marks
Yeah you can buy pads for the side of the tank, also covers.
I've never had one but this is probably your best bet. http://www.banditmaniashop.co.uk/ekm...tank_cover.jpg http://www.banditmaniashop.co.uk/sv6...bra-1131-p.asp |
Re: Tank marks
i stop it with a sponge every couple hundred miles.

Re: Tank marks
Clear film is the way to go mate, I had same problem on my black sprint, I bought a venture shield kit.
Make sure you polish it properly before putting it on tho as it will show the scratches if you don't. |
Re: Tank marks
clear sticky pads, or stomp grips
|
Re: Tank marks
300 mile on a new bike id take it back to where ya bought it and get a new tank before adding the venter protecton/ stomp grips

If you don't fancy the really heavy "Stomp" grips, Motrax are now doing clear pads for the sides of the tank called "Chicken Fillets" on account of their shape.......

Or do as I do, ebay for carbon fibre sheet, A4 size and cut your own. Done it on my black Sv and reckon it looks good, cheap to! :)

Have to say the techSpec snakeskins look like the best bet. Like the fact they can be removed, repositioned.
I am sure the tank cover would offer better protection but it reminds me of those 'car bras' that those hideous americans fit to the front of their cars:rolleyes: |

to rub scratches that aren't down to the metal out:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/FARECLA-BODY...3792172&sr=8-1 most day to day scratches are only lacquer deep. |
