tyre time again prices / choice ?

Hi

Looking at prices for a pair of avon storms ride in/out best price so far £200 is this a good price ?

Normally change tyres as a pair , they have done 8k , rear is to wear markers but front looks good for another 2-3k , is it false economy to fit just the rear ?

Any one used the Maxxis touring tyres , heard mix reviews esp in the wet , which concerns me as bike is used daily all weathers
Cheers Steveg

£200 fitted's about right for storm ultras.
If you just use it for commuting there'll be harder wearing tyres out there though

Had a pair fitted recently at BikersWorld Coleshill, larger size rear and wheels were carried in, £197 all in, suggest you give them a ring fast and relaible.

Nice one

Have tried metz z6's , prelli diablo stradas & storms on the sv before

All about the same mileage 8 - 10k , last storm did almost 10k , been doing more motorway recently though which has taken its toll on this rear storm

What harder wearing tyres are out there as would love to give em a go

Cheers Steveg

Michellin pr2s are generally recommended on here and are supposed to be better for longetivity than the storm.
I tried them and didn't like but I don't commute. They were £220 fitted and michellin were doing a £20 cashback thing so might be worth seeing if they're still doing it.

BWs carry most makes and will "deal". I run pr2s on the SV the other pair were on a classic FZR project.

Would I be ok putting a PR2 on the front with my Storm on the back?

using Conti Road Attacks - on hot and very shiny local roads they are like **** to a blanket - heavy rain yesterday, no heroics but 2 up were very stable - I know there are patterns out there now but you might get a good deal on these.

Not sure how the tread tracks compliment each other.
But I found the avons stickier than the pr2s (and i suppose if they pr2s are harder wearing that supports what I found... I guess), sure I've heard something about not putting a stickier tyre on the rear than front. - I'm deffo not an expert though!!.

I use maxxis tyres and they where fine through out the horrible down pours we had here recently. My main problem is changing the rear tyre!! Every time i do it the caliper decides to spit the retaining clip out and the pads drop down. Just out of practice as i've had a single swing arm for a while. That was a total doddle! 2 minute job tuned into half hour. gggrrr.

I've got a pair of the Maxxis Supermax touring versions on my bike no, had them fitted a couple of days back. Feel exactly like the Storm ST's in the dry. Only ridden them on a short stretch of wet road so far but had no problems whatsoever.

Managed to do 200 miles , 150 in the wet ...

In wet seem same as orginal storms ie excellent
In dry seem sticker than the original storms and rear tyre grains up lovely , no chicken strips left and there is more than enough grip for the sv , hope they last ok ...
