is this sound normal for a SL0 model sv650?

I have a new SV650 running her in hard and fast, clocked up 200miles already, making sure the bike is warmed up to around 80deg C before hitting higher revs.

after riding it for some time now i seem to hear what sounds like noisey tappets...

not sure if this is normal or not...

stock can on the bike, it is all stock really.

white with a blue stripe model, sv650 s, sport fully faired.

comments please.

"They all do that sir".

These engines are known for a bit of ticking and clicking so it's likely to be nothing to worry about.

However, I'm just a bloke on the internet so see if you can get a listen to another SV as a comparison or mention it to your dealer just to satisfy yourself that it's not something more sinister.

Post up your location and another member may be able to offer engine listening services.

If it's the "normal" engine noise it's easily fixed with a noisy exhaust. :D

thanks for the reply,

i thought it might be normal, just thought i would ask.

i intend to fit a nice loud can but cant be bothered to get the carbs balanced to reduce the back firing just yet... plus i cant really afford it at the moment.

it is on the cards that i will, as it sounds like a sowing machine at the moment. very mute! not what i am use to at all!!!

L0 does not have carbs, it is PAIR system on those which gives backfiring on overrun

IIRC lambda probe is in place you don't need to cut for slip-on can, should be fine.

i got the sl0, guess yours is like my pic <<< they are noisey, i was worried about it at first, sv's have a bit of history with the cam chain tensioners from what i gather.

nice can, subtract baffles and you'll be happy if you dont like the quietness!

the back firing is the best bit, scaring people on the pavement half to death thinking they have been shot at haha

Yeah, that all sounds normal. The end of a pregnancy is not the most comfortable situation in the world! Back pain is common in pregnancy.

Ok....

So if you use a top box, you must be pregnant....

I can see the natural link there, suppose it doubles up as a child seat too..
