Fuel rant whinge moans hate fuel prices bah

I've had the Bandit just under 4 years now.

When I got it, it cost me £17 and a few pence to fillup from empty.

Stopped this morning in an anal probing Tesco this morning, £1.30. So Tesco, every little helps? whats that, every little inch further your thrusting inside my sphincter?

Todays fillup cost £24.50.

Ironic how the fuel prices went so high due to barral costs. Funny how its below $90 per barral now, yet the prices are going up and up. And what can we do about it, nothing at all.

So im spending now £6.50 per TANK of fuel more now than I was a few years ago? Gone are the days of watching the litres go up before the £££..

Yes its a rant, no, no-one will do anything, im jsut ranting. Im so chuffing angry. Can't buy a diesel car, that costs stupid amounts to filup a normal car now. What, £75-£80+. The old VXR was a 52 litre petrol tank. Cost us £45 to fill up 5 years ago. Current S3, same size tank, £70......

Rant over, for the short term...

Government = :smt097

From Fact of the Day:
" Forty years ago we went decimal.
Petrol was 3 gallons for £1 so you'd brim a just-on-reserve SV tank.
Welcome to the world of inflation."
When I got my first bike I could ride from Surrey to Glasgow & BACK for £20

I'm still impressed with the fact they can build a rig in the middle of the sea, drill, extract, refine, transport, do some chemistry stuff, transport it to the petrol station and sell it at £1.30 a litre with billions of pounds of profit each year....

A bottle of volvic on the services is around £1.89 and that's just rain which has been cleaned and bottled.

Yup, but you get twice the mieage out of it :)

My diesel car costs about £10 more to fill up than my petrol did, however I have gone from ~250miles on a long run to now about ~500+ (had 300 miles out of half a tank once) on a full tank. Well worth the change imo.

What, and not be a snobbish prude who thinks he's better than everyone....? Becuase thats what private plates mean

I was just on a rant. Filled up, at a superstore, for a huge price per litre.

I remember going jetskiiing. Jerry can would take £20. Jetski would take £20. That was a days jetskiing there.

From what I hear, it costs over £100 for the same day out these days. But this was when petrol was 48.9pl though.

Just can't believe in such a short space of time, that the cost has gone up so much, on the same bike.

Prices will go up sure, but the reason prices went up were due to barrel costs. Barrels cost less now, but we're paying a huge amount more (VAT won't do that much).

Shafted as they know they can do it, and we need it so will continue paying for it.

I just wonder how so many people can fill up their car so many times at these kind of prices? Once per week say, £70 fillup, thats £280 just in fuel alone per month. Mental. Makes my plan of getting a small car, more of a dream than a real plan :( Boo hoo

When I did my tax return, I had spent over 3k in work diesel alone last year.
Thats without the personal mileage, the KTM or the Daytona eiter.

£72 to fill up the passat from empty though just under half with 400 miles done so the return is better.

£20?!

God you go for short rides!!

Last time I filled the Daytona it was about 20 quid and always need to fill up at least twice.

Wow, long rides Rob!

I never really use a full tank on a ride. I tend to go for short really fast rides and then I like to stop somewhere and just chill. Much nicer than going really far out of your way :D

A rides not a ride unless it's miniumum 200 miles.

I just fitted a 22ltr tank to the hyper which is going to cost near as damn £30 to fill, hopefull getting 200 or more miles to the tank.

Better than the 12ltr tank it did have, although it was nice filling up and rarely putting in more than £10.

My car on the other hand :o, I've done 9000 miles in 3 months and I'm only in the country every other week lol easily spending £500+ a month on fuel.

Dont get me started on bottled water, clever marketing to sell people something that is practically free in the home, with no advantages at all.

Supply and demand. Get public transport, cycle, walk and save your money to put petrol in the bike, which is really whats important/fun.

I went from Wigan to Newtown then to Leominster on the A44 and hime on the A49.

I think I paid for a new Rolls Royce for the Sheikh of Arabia judging by how much fuel I used....

I am surprised that the protests haven't come yet. Though, now we're well past the £1/litre barrier, perhaps people care less?

Worst thing is- the cost of EVERYTHING is going up and up and we're not seeing anything back for it.

Certainly not the condition of the roads. They're a joke.

Cycle and walk defo... but public transport is insane money.

Return trip to london by train £130 from nottingham, same trip by car £40

I would love to be able to walk or cycle to work though :(

.

Brilliant mod. Hardly noticeable too.

Reckon they must punt a fair few of these kits. Maybe enough to make the manufacturers to take notice and fit some decent sized tanks on stuff. (I dont paticularly care about mpg if it has a big tank or the spec sheet additional kg.)

I predict a seat mod in the near future though!? Reckon the original might get a bit "nippy" with no stopping?

I was chatting to some friends about this the other night.

Back in 2000 the uk average for unleaded was just under 75p per litre and the country went mad, blockades went into place and the people said "no".

10 years+ later, were heading for damn near £1 more a litre (may as well be by the end of the year) and we just sit back and take it.

Everything has gone up except wages and we do seem to be getting less and less for our money.

Roads are a mess and even reporting pot holes as big as your head gets you nowhere as "its been surveyed and doesnt meet criteria yet" is often the answer.

I remember the petrol protests in 2000, i'd just started college :) and it was around 80p a litre I think? Of which 80% of that was tax. Still, seems pretty appealing nowadays!

Not to really **** on your chips but if you've got mortgages or loans, the next thing to expect is rising interest rates :(

All depends on how many tens of thousands of barrels per rig they can produce a day...

At ~ $90 a barrel, with companies having say 10 rigs in the north sea, some with more, so some simple sums...

Most of the North Sea rigs are 20-40 years old, so there is no cost of building new rigs, most of them are held together by rust.

And remember, oil is refined into many other products, petrol is just a part of what they can make from oil...

Yeah, but I do 30 miles a day, in all weathers, so when it comes to the weekends and evenings, I like to blat and stop. Besides, in kent we've only got a few directions to go in

And yup, got a mortgage, and yes im hoping the rates stay low for the next year.

Wanna know how much it costs to fill up and run a 2.5l V6 Freelander?

You really don't want to know! Well actually I'd like to know how much it costs to fill it right up, as I haven't done that for months!

This is what I mean.

Im on a respectable wage, not great, but its not bad. Sure half my wage goes into my house, but I see people who you know havent got much cash, driving round in big 4x4 3.0 TDs from the 90's, or big 3.0 v6 petrols, and I think, how the hell do they run them? Fuel tax etc? Yet I complain about the Bandit doing 45mpg

Only cars in my list are VW Lupos/Seat arosa, or a Smart car? I dont think I could afford to run anything else (ok 106 1.5D, but no, just no)

Aye, times change lad.

I can remember gas lamps and trams first time around.

And weeks worth on the first bike cost 48p, and first pay packet was just over £9.

I've heard they got something called haryplanes that go in the sky with people in them.

Ey by gum, whatever next

Petrol came in gallons but not at todays price of £5:90 per gallon
When I were lad it were 5/3 for gallon Esso Golden

Just worked that back and it equates to 26.25pence per gallon---HOLY COW
how times have changed

At the price we were paying for in the 3rd week in January we used £11600 worth of fuel to go from Leeds to Tenerife and back, we operate 38 aeroplanes I'm so glad I don't pick up that bil!

Re: Fuel rant whinge moans hate fuel prices bah

I bought my first car in 1998, a 2nd hand Fiesta 1.3. I remember that it used to take just under £30 to fill it on my way home from work, and the cost was 57.9p per litre. That means that petrol is now approximately 2.25 times as expensive.

I bought my first house in 1999, and paid £33k for it. It's some time since I moved on, but I did notice it for sale recently for around £125k, which is approximately 3.75 times more than I paid.

Petrol might be heading upwards, but it's some way to go to match house price inflation over the last few years...

You have memories of travel if you buy fuel, although some will be far more memorable than others.

Personally, I'd quite happily go back to the prices of 98/99 for both, but it ain't going to happen. :(

Petrol cant be too expensive, else traffic levels would fall. Its still cheap enough to do the school run, the most un nescessary journey ever.
I even doubt £2 a litre would make much difference.
