Offshore work

Is anyone a big important offshore boss that can get me a sparky job? [-o<

I've just done my BOSIET course and I'm sending out CV's to all the companies I can find. Really need to find a job soon. If anyone does work offshore any companies/info would be much appreciated :)

just a work of warning that its deadmans boots to get a job on the rigs, but timings everything and nows the time (loads of extra rigs going up) especially in the northwest

Plus all the wind farms going up too, which don't always require spending loads of time off shore, although depends on your contract and the job.

There an old ferry being used to house workers off shore near me. Saves having to bring them back & forth every day

Yep I'm just hoping my c.v. lands in someone's inbox at the right time. I know a few people on the rigs but none in a position to help me get a job unfortunately.

What electrical qualifications do you have? PM me if you like.

I work in a management role offshore with a fair bit of weight behind me, we have quite a few jobs available at the moment but the competition is extremely tough, it really depends what level of role you are looking for.

I've got my 17th. Passed the FICA 2008 and been working with a few companies since. Haven't got any offshore experience so just looking for a basic electrician job, or one that I can be trained up in. I applied for a Wireline engineer job with weatherfords where they train you up, and as they do the salary goes up. But just looking for anything really to get started

Re: Offshore work

The roles we have are basic entry level roles, the pay is a bit rubbish to start with (between £22k to £24k), however after your initial training (6 to 8 weeks living in) you can make a bit in overtime and allowances, and the opportunity to progress is however massive.

Re: Offshore work

£24k is better than no k :p

Actually that's about what I was on before. What are the rotas like and where are they?

Re: Offshore work

Depends on quite a few factors, you can be sent anywhere, more than likely in the UK to begin with.

If you were allocated to the installation or commissioning teams you would likely do 2 weeks on, 1 week off, living on either a jack up or flotel. You can get stuck at either end of your rota due to weather, you can also be sat for two weeks doing nothing due to weather. The service techs are usually based out of a specific port, i'm not to sure about service as I work for projects not service.

Well if you think you can get me something that would be awesome. I can send my cv to you

Re: Offshore work

I can get it to the right person with a good word, then give you their contact details to follow it up. I can't guarantee anything unfortunately as we have had so many applications and competition is tough.

Pm sent

A mate of mine works for Halliburton out in the North Sea off Norway. I have no idea if they employ sparks but it may be worth a try?

Have a look at www.halliburton.jobs
