Wales ride to Caernarfon 26th March
 

Right i've well and truly got the bug for welsh roads after Eds ride on monday :D so am planning on doing something like this next time i'm over that way

Start out at Ruthin
B5105 I keep hearing about
B4501 and quick stop in Bala
Back down the A4212 until B4391
A470
A487
B4410
A4085 to Caernarfon and stop somewhere near the castle for lunch and photies

Then A4086 (1 of the few roads I do know in wales, love the scenery) and A5, stopping at Conwy Falls cafe for a drink. Then home from there somehow.

Only weekend i'm free for a while is Saturday 26th March so no poll i'm afraid ;) anyone care to join me? All are welcome, i'll have the gopro in tow again so get practicing your wheelies and kneedown....

If anyones free on a weekday (preferably mondays or fridays) and fancies a trial run,I'm sure I could be persuaded to give the office a wide berth :smt115

Probably a no from me as i will have baby commitments by then i expect.Maybe sort something in the peaks around may time though if u fancy it?

Just possibly up for joining you at some point en route on the 26th. Will have to see how things are (bit overloaded with college work atm!)

babys due 2nd April dude. Love the GoPro footage from the other day. Looks a lot slower in the clip where i'm infront though :)

Useful, but Google maps always sends you down a little single track to cut off a corner at the junction of B4391 and the A470 so not quite right. Probably won't make a difference on the ride as you just 'follow your nose' on the B4391 to the A470, then hang a left.

yeah I noticed that, but after streetviewing it, it looked like the kind of road I'd have a look at, was undecided whether to correct it heh. Didn't look much different from the one from the back of lake vyrnwy to bala that I mooched down last year but anyway, moot point, I'll stop waffling and lets face it I'll just follow the bike in front ;)

yes yes pity my poor SV, currently looks like I've been rallying on it but I swear I was on approved roads the whole time.

Cool looks like there could be a few interested :) guys if you want to post up next week nearer the time to say you're definitely coming, we can sort out meeting places from there.

I'm hoping to be in better shape for it than I am right now, 5 a side got a bit physical last night! got a sprained wrist and swelling at the back of my knee after I was cropped badly. I got up and punched the lad who did it and caused a big fight between both sets of players and staff though, so its all good :mrgreen:

Hope everything goes smoothly for you mate. Its the camera, it adds 10lbs and loses 20mph ;) I was going to wind you up and say do you mind if I post your vid up in public, its not like were going that fast? lol you picked up the pace at the end though

I got a bit of a telling off when cait saw me editing the vids, don't think she appreciated my cornering abilities! Would have been less hassle if she'd caught me watching p0rn I reckon

Back home, what a ride my brain is slightly scrambled from all the fantastic roads! I liked the B5105 out of Ruthin but was expecting more 2bh. Then I got on the B4391...WOW is all I can say :love: why was I not told about this road!

Only slight downer was whilst bimbling along the B4410 enjoying the scenery a guy on a KTM 950 comes roaring up behind me and the traffic infront. Once I got past the cars hes right up my chuff so decided to have a little fun with him.....2 minutes later his bike was adorning the welsh countryside. Completely lost it on a right hander and went straight on. I did a u-ey and went back to help, he wasnt very appreciative to say the least :smt098 learn to ride then ya feckin tool

And got a shake of the head from the tunnel police on the way back, dont think they appreciated my loud pipes. So think I ticked all the boxes for a good day out :D

Yeah just me Quiff, 1st decent ride I've had on my duke. 225 miles. I now ache like a b@stard :smt042

Weather could have been better but the sun was out round caernarfon way, and main thing it was dry :) ktm guy was fine bar the very bruised ego, crash bungs saved most of the damage. He was chunnering away to himself, made sure he was ok and the bike was still rideable. Ignored my advice to chill at the roadside for a bit and promptly fecked off at the same speed that got him in trouble in the 1st place! Meh takes all sorts I spose

Didnt ruin my day :mrgreen:

There was no thankyou, I could/should have left him in the hedge :smt048 he obviously doesnt appreciate how hard it is to do a u turn on them bloody things either!

He was just f-ing and jeffing alot, not particuarly aimed at me. Kept saying he'd only had it a few weeks, as if it was somehow my fault? he was starting to annoy me at this point so I asked if he was local, said he was and asked if I was.....said nope, 1st time i've seen this road. at which point he threw on his lid and ****ed off :smt043

Think secretly he was annoyed because I looked better in my power rangers outfit than he did, the fat git :p

The 4391 is a stormer isn't it? Knocks the spots off the A4212 as far as I'm concerned ( although that bend around the end of Llyn Celyn is a good one!)

:smt045 its a cracker mate, coming from Bala you get to do the mahoosive left hander and then jump on the 4391. Can't see why you'd want to stay on the main road with all that waiting for you!

Gutting, but best to stay close you never know when the little nipper will want out :)

I did have the GoPro on, but the SD card was full from the roads before. Bugger! I did capture me getting a bit over excited out of 1 bend,hoisting the front wheel in the air and shouting yeeeeehaaa though :oops:

I found the A4391 today for the first time by luck, was heading to check out the A4212 and my god the 4391 is amazing, never rode such a good road, almost went weak at the knees :P

Will be heading back over their for sure next weekend to have another play.

been up to the watersports place near Bala on the 4212 loadsa o times.. but never ridden the 4391..

looks like I need to go .. looks good on google maps

For me the best way to do the B4391 is from the northern end going south and then out onto the A4212. I find that going along the 4212 generally involves going around that bend by Llyn Celyn and then turning round and going back around it the other way. And then going back to do it all over again...several times!
