Early Bird or night owl?
So which are ya? I'm most definitely a night owl but rather annoyingly, all of the very successful people I know are early birds... and they eat worms!
|
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
i hate the sun full stop
|
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I cant sleep in, would like to every now and then but cant.
|
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
Bit of an early bird, if only i was successful to go with it :p
|
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I am an early bird. I'm normally in bed or a sleep where ever I happen to be by 10pm... and I find it impossible to sleep past 7am.
Recently it's not been through choice as I have to get up at 04:30 alot to get to the office, or the airport, etc... getting up at that time inevitably means going to bed early. |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
neither I fail..
If I go to bed to early I dont sleep, too late I sleep in Getting up is hell.... To the point where I have been to the docs about it.... More exercise needed. |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
im none of the above
go to bed late go a 2 year old so get up earlie best of both worlds, sort of. |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
Night owl. And early worm
Weekends, I'll rarely go to bed before midnight and never in bed still after 8. Work days, rarely go to bed before midnight and up at 6.30. Seem to not really need much sleep to function |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
Neither and both. It's all down to the hours I'm working. If I'm in early, I go to bed before 9pm to be up just before 5am. If I'm in late, I don't even get home until after 10pm.
I'm beginning to prefer getting up early as it's kinda nice having a cup of coffee and a cookie in the morning, playing loads of Xbox or doing the errands and then it's only just lunchtime. On the other hand, I've got no problem staying up to 3am if the mood takes me. |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
How early is early? I'm a bit of both, rarely go to bed before midnight and get up between 7 and 8. Weekends might lyin to 10 if not got anything planned.
I would like to be an early bird up at 6 every morning and if we still had a dog I would be, just an excuse to get out and have those dawn walks. But have no incentive other than for myself which isn't the same. |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
Definitely an early bird, keep waking up 4.30-5 at the moment, even if the rooms blacked out my brain just seems to know its getting lighter and makes me wake up!!
|
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I can wake up early if needed but I need 7-8 hours kip otherwise I'm more of a bear than normal.
Can't really do late nights - Normally well asleep by midnight even though I try. I can lie in at the weekends but I nromally wake at around 7/8 before!! |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I'm not normally asleep before the Shipping Forecast comes on at 12.45 and my alarm goes off at 5.45 latest every day just in time for Farming Today. You'd be amazed how much random info I know about milk quotas and visibility in the far flung coastal regions of Scotland.
I don't seem to need more than 5.5 hours sleep a night but according to a recent study this is a good thing: http://www.themedguru.com/20101002/n...-86140692.html |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I get up early every day. During the week the alarm is set for 5.50am. That would be the latest I have to get up to go to work. But I hardly ever wake to the alarm. I'm normally up way before then. I got to bed around 11ish but not to sleep until gone midnight.
I do get tired by the end of the week but there doesn't seem to be much I can do about it. My body refuses to stay asleep and every now and then I don't get any sleep during the night at all. I have to be in work by 8am but most days I'll be sat in the office an hour before that. That's after commuting over 70 miles. At the weekend I'll wake at my normal 5-5.30 am and try my best to go back to sleep, after an hour of tossing and turning, I'll get up. I'm being made redundant at the end of the month. Wonder what the hell I am going to do for the first three hours of the morning whilst waiting for the rest of the house to wake up. Playstation me thinks. |

Oh, and don't play anything frustrating/with voice chat. Even if only you can hear the game, they'll still hear you shouting 'EFF OFF YOU EFFING CAMPER' at the TV. |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I can do both, just swap between. Most probably because I work 3 shifts and have to swap between.
At the weekends I'm up no later than 8, but normally awake an hour before then. And I'm never asleep before midnight. I don't need much sleep :D |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I'm a late to bed, up early - age, trying to fit as much into life as poss before I kick it.
Can I put the ex-wife down for blood sucking vampire? |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
Non working days, in bed by 10, up usually by 06:30
Work days depends on whats going on, as I have no set shift pattern Would love to sleep in but just can't do it, my internal clock was reprogammed when I was a teenager delivering newspapers |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
Night owl.
Quite frequently stay up till 3am odd at the weekend with ease. Loath getting up before 9-10am. Never at the weekends, and like death warmed up until i've had a coffee at work. Some mornings, I don't remember half my journey in on the bike :S |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
When I work days I have to be up at 6am and It's a nightmare. The come 10pm when it's time to go to bed I am wide awake.
If I don't have to go to work I can happily lie in bed for hours just chiling. In an ideal world I would have 10-12 hours sleep every night! How people survive on less than 7 I never know. After 12 hour day 4 day shifts I have to have a good 12 hour sleep just to get over them. I find night shifts easier. As long as I have had a good nights sleep (over 8 hours) the day before staying up till 8am isn't an issue. |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I normally go to bed about 10.30-11pm & am up & about at around 5am.
Gets worse in the summer. As soon as it's light my brain tells me to get up, so it's normally about 4 - 4.30. That includes Saturdays & Sundays |

Actually no set sleeping habit. 1am sleep. 6:30am wake up if needed, or the days I don't have anything to do 1am sleep, 9am wake up,or 5am sleep and afternoon wake up. |

I normally fall asleep for 30 mins though around 8-9 pm :) |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I'm an ultimate night person.
I go to sleep between 4am and 5am each day, even when I have to be up at 7.30am! I don't know why I do it to myself but I find it depressing sleeping before 3am no matter what. Mornings are boring as are afternoons really. All about evening and night. |

Night Owl, those of you that know me, ( and I do pity you if you do ) will also know that I defintely do not do mornings.
|
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
depends upon what I've drunk and if I'm working.
Vodka results in about a 4am bed and 8.30 wake (i don't drink redbull or coke etc.. with it) Chemi larger in bed til about 9am at the earliest Dry 6am |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
Went to bed last night about 11.30 after having most of a bottle of wine and two cans of Guiness. Still woke up at 04.10. Up at 04.30 and into work by 07.00.
|
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
still up and not gonna sleep for a couple of more hours at least. have to be up at 8.30 plus gonna have a messy one in Brighton tomorrow, prob no time for an afternoon nap so might end bitterly tomorrow (fri) night!
|
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
well it's usually the same for me every night/morning. i'll go to bed around 3am lie there pretending to sleep, get up about an hour later make a cuppa and have a ciggy. go back to bed and then up at 8am. this is 7 days a week. i could win sleeping contests at one time but since the op i cant and its a nightmare.

Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I`m both , can go to bed very late (say around 2am) and can be up for work at 5am , a very heavy sleeper in that time , but can be mobilised in mere moments and quite alert . Then there are other times I get a good 5 hours a night in and feel great for it
|
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I'd have to put myself down as a bit of both. Just do what i gta do...can get up early for work and can stay up late aswell but cant do both together for may days

Re: Early Bird or night owl?
I occasionally fall asleep in front of the PC at about 10pm - midnight - so if it says I'm on here, most likely the PC will be but I'll be in the land of nod:D
So I go to bed and wake up at 5am:rolleyes::rolleyes: I rarely sleep beyond 4.30 - 5am, then let the cats out and fetch coffee for me and tea for her, she don't wake up so hers goes cold and I go get the free refill at 6.30. Like Stig, I'm redundant 31.3, unlike Stig I don't have a PS wotsit so I'll be diggin the garden. This week, I have beetroot and salad leaves to put in. Just as well I love gardening, eh? |

+1 Both here as well. Struggle to get in bed by 1:00 or 1:30 AM (sometimes 2:00 AM), get up at 5:00 AM 6 days a week. Saturday night/Sunday morning I stay up till 3:00 AM and sleep till 7:00 or 7:30 AM. If It's been a really tiring week I might sleep till 8:00. |
Re: Early Bird or night owl?
Strangely, since I posted this thread, I've been up early every morning since! Now that's wierd! :)
